Sterzing gets overtime win in Salzburg

In Tuesday's lone Alps Hockey League game, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan celebrated a 3:2 overtime victory at the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. The team from Sterzing took the lead twice, but the hosts managed to equalise each time. Philippe Sanche's second goal of the evening decided the game in favour of the South Tyroleans.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan both started the new season with a win. On Tuesday, the two teams played out an even and goalless first period. The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute on their third powerplay, with Adam Capannelli beating Juniors goalie Pfarrmaier. However, Adrian Gesson equalised for the hosts just a little later. In the third period, Sterzing went ahead again through Philippe Sanche, this time Paul Vinzens (56) equalised. The game went into over time, where one of six penalties (Sterzing only conceded one) proved to be the Juniors' undoing. Sanche decided the game in favour of the South Tyroleans with his second goal of the evening.
