The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan have done it and qualified as the fifth team for the Master Round, securing an early spot in the playoffs. In the very last game of the regular season, the South Tyroleans celebrated a convincing 4:0 road victory at KHL Sisak, pushing Kitzbühel down to sixth place by one point. Sisak, meanwhile, missed the chance to move up to second place and remains third behind Zell am See.

The Alps Hockey League now continues with the Master Round and the Qualification Round. The first matchday of the intermediate round will take place on Thursday, February 5. The full schedule will be announced on Monday.

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan needed two points to move up to fifth place – in the end, they collected all three. KHL Sisak, on the other hand, only needed one point to climb to second place and start the Master Round with three bonus points. However, the highly anticipated clash turned into a rather one-sided affair in favor of the visitors from Sterzing, who had suffered a narrow 1:2 overtime loss in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday.

Connor Sanvido opened the scoring for the Broncos in the third minute, and James Livingston doubled the lead in the 14th minute to make it 2:0. Sterzing also struck twice in the second period to decide the game early. First, Paul Eisendle converted on the power play to make it 3:0 (22nd minute), before Jerkko Rämö added the fourth goal on a 5-on-3 power play in the 34th minute. In the final period, Sterzing defended confidently, and Dominik Groh recorded his second shutout of the season with 34 saves.
