Stojan Nejc (#2) of HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, time ~24:40, made contact with an opponent deemed as a Check to the Head or Neck, IIHF Rule 124. The video evidence was sent to the AHL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 2 – ‘Reckless’ – a deliberate and/or dangerous action with no concern for the result, with a conscious action to provoke, through intent and a willful purpose. Injury is not the determining factor but can be considered as influential means to the decision.

According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the AHL PSC, player Stojan Nejc (#2) of HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 124 – Checking to the Head or Neck.

On Saturday, September 28th, (#2) Stojan Nejc of HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, was involved in an incident deemed as a check to the head. With the opposing team gaining puck possession in their defensive zone, play moved up the ice, through the neutral zone to the attacking zone. Near the attacking blue line, the puck possession player made a pass and then was immediately checked. When the pass occurred and the possibility of a body check by Stojan Nejc, the play is considered normal and okay, provided the check is delivered in a legal manner. Instead, Stojan Nejc had no regard for the puck, checked in an excessive manner with body elevation and made substantial head contact on the opposing player.

It has been determined that Stojan Nejc check was not legal, in separating the puck from puck carrier - but rather, more an effort to separate the puck carrier from the game. He must work to stay plain (not elevate into
a check) and avoid head contact.

Effective immediately, Stojan Nejc (#2) is suspended for 2 games.
