Alps Hockey League | 15.01.2023 | Schedule:
Sun, 15.01.2023, 6.00 pm: Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – HC Gherdeina valgardena.it
Referees: SCHAUER, STEFENELLI, Eisl, Rinker. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
The game between the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it had originally been scheduled for November 27th, as problems with the ice preparation in Sterzing forced a postponement. The meeting will now be made up on Sunday and will conclude the regular season of the Alps Hockey League. The result can still have an influence on the composition of the Qualification Round A or B and thus bring position changes between the eighth and eleventh placed teams:

  • No change will occur if HC Gherdeina valgardena.it gets a win, even after overtime or shootout. Then the "Furie" will remain eighth, followed by Meran (#9), Lustenau (#10) and Sterzing (#11).
  • In case of a defeat after overtime or shootout, Val Gardena would also defend its eighth place in standings, while the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan would then move past Lustenau into tenth place. Merano (#9) would keep its place.
  • If the "Broncos" win after regulation, they draw level on points (38) with Val Gardena and Merano. Then a sub-table of the results of these three teams against each other will decide. Merano would then be eighth (three wins), Sterzing ninth (two) and Gröden tenth.

Sterzing won the lone season duel of these two teams so far on October 20th with 5-3. Back then, it made up a one-goal deficit three times and decided the game in the final period. The "Broncos" have an upward form available, winning their last three games, not conceding a goal twice. Val Gardena, which will be coached by Marco Liberatore for the first time, managed only one victory in the last five league games, but that was at the regular season champion in Jesenice.
