Suspension for Anze Kuralt

Anze Kuralt (#92) of Fehervar AV19 was involved in an incident deemed as Checking to the head or nor neck (IIHF Rule 124) in the match against spusu Vienna Capitals on December 28th 2018, time 58:42. The video evidence was sent to the EBEL Player Safety Committee (PSC), which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 2 - 'Reckless'. According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the EBEL PSC, player Anze Kuralt (#92) of Fehervar AV19, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 124 – Checking to the head or neck.

On 12-28-2018, an incident occurred that is deemed a check to the head. With just over a minute left in a 4-2 game, Anze Kuralt (#92) of Fehervar AV19, delivered a check that is deemed illegal and dangerous. With the puck being rimmed around the boards, the opposing player dropped down to play the puck. The opposing player, being a right hand shot with the playing of the puck on his right side, must locate himself slightly off the boards. Anze Kuralt approaching at a high rate of speed from the opposing players top hand side, delivers a body check that is overly aggressive and illegal. The reason for supplementary discipline is in the delivery of the check, Kuralt elevates into the check. The contact delivered by Kuralt made head contact initially through his right shoulder. He extends his right elbow out before contact, tucks it upon contact and then extends his elbow up and out in the head area of the opposing player pushing the opposing players head into the glass. With the opposing player slightly off the boards, there was initial head contact and then secondary head contact into the glass. Considering the game was in its final stages and the score was 4-2 for AV19, there really is no reason for this forceful of a check to the head of the opposing player. Effective immediately, Anze Kuralt is suspended for 2 games.
