Suspension for David Slivnik

David Slivnik (#24) of EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau, time 57:46, made contact with an Official deemed as Abuse of officials, IIHF Rule 116. 

According to the Arbitrator and ruling of the AHL PSC, player David Slivnik (#24) of EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 116 – Abuse of officials.

On January 12th, in Kitzbühel, at a stoppage in play, (#24) David Slivnik of EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau applied physical force on a game official.  After a penalty shot was called by the Referee, against David Slivnik in the 3rd period, the player appeared to be very unhappy with the call and skated towards and directly confronted the referee. When the linesmen arrived, he worked to locate himself, as instructed, between the Referee and David Slivnik. The linesmen is instructed and taught to do so, in an attempt to diffuse the situation and avoid further penalties. The reason for supplementary discipline is David Slivnik, in an emotional state, pushed the linesmen. There was no contact necessary, as the player was calmly addressed by the linesmen. 

As per the AHL Casebook under physical abuse of an official - A player or team official who deliberately applies physical force in any manner against an on-ice official and is detrimental to the conducting of the game is to be assessed a game misconduct. There is no video available. Based on 4 game official reports and a supervisor report, David Slivnik is deemed guilty of physical abuse of an officials under category 1, which is defined by physically demeans or threatens or applies force solely for the purpose of getting free of an official.

Effective immediately, David Slivnik (#24) is suspended for 1 game.
