After last year's semi-final exit against the reigning champions EC-KAC, ice time has begun again in Salzburg. The Red Bulls have made a number of prominent additions in recent months, including Peter Schneider. The league MVP from the 2018/19 season was beaming all over his face after the first practice: "It went great. We had an incredible amount of energy on the ice and it was a lot of fun."

Peter Schneider and Benjamin Nissner are two new additions to the Salzburg squad.

Although it was the first session as a team, many players had already taken part in training sessions at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy or the U23 Prospect Camp in the past weeks. In addition, the import players prepared individually in their home countries. Head Coach Matt McIlvane was also very pleased with the start of training: "It was really fun, everyone was very focused. Due to the Olympic qualification, we only have 18 training days together. We need to lay down how we gonna play and try to keep getting better each day."

Red Bulls test against top teams
Next Saturday, the Red Bulls already have their first test on the schedule with a home match against Madeta Motor České Budějovice (19:15). On the following weekend, the six-time league champions will take part in the Red Bulls Salute at Sportpark Kitzbühel. The tournament will be a first highlight of the new ice hockey season. The Salzburgers will meet Bílí Tygři Liberec from the Czech Republic in the opening game, and on Sunday they will face either Red Bull München or HC Košice from Slovakia.
