The Rittner Buam are the first Champions of Sky Alps Hockey League

The Rittner Buam wrote history and clinched the first Sky Alps Hockey League title. The Buam won a tough final series against Asiago Hockey with 4:1. Asiago also delivered in the last game and good battle but had to take a 1:3 defeat.

Ritten wrote history. The Buam won the fifths game of the final series with 3:1 and the first trophy of the Sky Alps Hockey League. But the guests had the better start in the sold-out arena of Ritten. In the fifths minute a shot of Stefano Marchetti missed the target only by centimeters. On the otherside Markus Spinell had a first good chance, when he deflected the shot of Chistian Borgatello. But Frederic Cloutier kept his sheet clean. In the 11th minute it was Ivan Tauferer who had the lead on his stick, but the shot was not precise enough. From that moment on Asiago took control and put a lot of pressure on Ritten. In the final minutes of the first period Christian Borgatello and Fabian Ebner had to go on the penalty bench – but Ritten managed to kill the double powerplay.
 
At the beginning of the second period Asiago took the lead. The former “Rittner Bua” Andreas Lutz perfectly served the puck in the middle to Colin Long, who succeeded with the first goal of the night. But the Italian Champion shifted one gear up and celebrated the tie in the 31st minute. Simon Kostner assisted the puck to Victor Ahlström who beat Cloutier for the first time this evening. Only moments before the second break Ritten was lucky, as Krystofer Kolanos missed the goal only by centimeters.
 
In the final period the “Buam” had control again. In the 49th minute Dan Tudin missed the big chance for the lead. In the 49th minute Ritten capitalized on a power play situation. The defender Fabian Ebner shot a grenade into the net of Asiago. Asiago tried everything to tie the game again and played with full attack. But 37 seconds before the end Thomas Spinell succeeded with the empty netter for the 3:1 result. So the decision for the first Sky Alps Hockey League title was taken.
