About the Trophy
The championship trophy in the win2day ICE Hockey League was first awarded in 2007, and all champions since then are engraved on it. Back then, EC Red Bull Salzburg secured the Champions Trophy. When former league president Karl Nedwed (2005–2009) passed away in November 2014 at the age of 71, the trophy was renamed in his honor. On April 14, 2015, EC Red Bull Salzburg became the first team to lift the Karl Nedwed Trophy after sweeping Vienna in the finals.

The trophy has had quite the journey. It has broken multiple times during celebrations, been left at a bus stop, and even ended up in bed with Capitals forward Rafael Rotter. It has returned to the league either without a scratch, with numerous dents, or even in 26 separate pieces. Over the summer, the trophy is meticulously restored, and the names of the championship players are engraved.
