The win2day ICE Hockey League Issues Supplementary Discipline for Unsportsmanlike Conduct and Taunting

During the second and fourth quarter-final match between EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and HCB Südtirol Alperia, there was unsportsmanlike conduct and taunting. As a consequence, DOPS imposed fines of €250.00 each on four players: Felix Maxa (VSV), Thomas Vallant (VSV), Scott Valentine (HCB) and Adam Helewka (HCB). The win2day ICE Hockey League and the Director of Hockey Operations, Lyle Seitz, also issued the following statement.

The league has taken swift action to address the violations of league rules and uphold the integrity of the sport. The disciplinary measures are a result of actions that were deemed to undermine the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, which are core values of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The league condemns any behavior that seeks to provoke or taunt opponents, and it is committed to ensuring a respectful and competitive environment for all teams and players.

The league will continue to monitor the situation(s) closely to prevent further incidents.

Verdict Thomas Vallant (QF4)
After consideration of the incident in question and video evidence, it has been determined that Thomas Vallant engaged in unsportsmanlike conduct during the mentioned game. This behavior is in direct violation of the principles of fair play and respect that are fundamental to the win2day ICE Hockey League. As a result, Thomas Vallant will face a fine in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the conduct of players.

It is expected that all participants maintain a standard of professionalism and respect towards opponents, officials, and the game itself. This decision aims to uphold the integrity of the sport and ensure such behavior is not tolerated in the future.

The ICE Hockey League Department of Player Safety has fined Thomas Vallant 500.00 euros of which 250.00 euros are due immediately and 250.00 euros are set on probation, should there be similar actions until the end of the ICE Hockey League season 24/25 and the penalty will be imposed in addition to new sanctions.


Verdict Felix Maxa (QF2)
