Third period goals give Caps win over Innsbruck

After elimination from Champions Hockey League, Vienna Capitals extended their winning streak in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. The Viennese beat HC TWK Innsbruck thanks to three third period goals 5:3 for their 23th successive league win.

Despite both teams creating just a few chances, the 3.650 fans in Vienna saw two early goals. After Jerome Samson took the lead for the hosts, Andrew Yogan tied it from sharp angle. In the second period the Caps took over command but Innsbruck scored the next goal when John Lammers beat Caps goalie Tuokkola with a blue liner on power play. With six seconds to go in the middle frame Dominic Hackl scored the equalizer from distance. The leader came out hard for the third period and firedlots of shots goalswards. After 52 minutes Jamie Fraser retook Vienna's lead on powerplay and then a brace within 29 seconds by Mario Fischer and Macgregor Sharp made the preliminary decision. Innsbruck's Hunter Bishop rounded off the scoring late in the period with the Caps celebrating their 23th successive victory.
