Third place for Cavaliers at tournament in Deggendorf

No less than 14 test matches with Alps Hockey League participation were on the schedule from Friday to Sunday. The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers were in action on Saturday and Sunday at the Niemeier Haustechnik Cup in Deggendorf. After a 1:4 opening loss against the Heilbronn Falcons, they won the third-place match against host Deggendorfer SC with 3:2.

A total of four internal AHL duels were also scheduled in the past few days. The Steel Wings Linz AG first defeated the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel with 2:1-SO, before they were beaten by defending champion HDD Jesenice 2:4. The Eagles from Kitzbühel, in turn, were able to clearly defeat the EC-KAC Future Team 7:3 in the second game. The Klagenfurt team also lost against UTE Budapest 3:5. In addition, S.G. Cortina Hafro celebrated a narrow 3:2-OT victory against the HC Meran/o Pircher.

Seven games from Tuesday to Thursday
A total of seven games with AHL participation are scheduled over the next three days. Besides runner-up Cortina, Bregenzerwald, Lustenau, Zell am See and the Unterland Cavaliers have international opponents. League-internal meetings are scheduled between Val Gardena and Merano, as well as Vipiteno and Ritten.

Maks Selan returns to Jesenice | Two new players for the Steel Wings
After 14 seasons Maks Selan returns to HDD Jesenice. The 34-year-old native of Jesenice last played in Hannover. Before that, he was active in Gherdeina and Zell am See, among others. In Jesenice, the defenseman played between 2007 and 2009. In addition, the Steel Wings announced the signing of Timo Sticha, who last played for the Tölzer Löwen, and Maximilian Theirich, who comes from the EC-KAC Future Team.
