win2day ICE Hockey League | 15.01.2023 | Schedule:
Sun, 15.01.2023, 4.30 pm: EC Red Bull Salzburg – EC-KAC
Referees: NIKOLIC K., NIKOLIC M., Nothegger, Sparer. | >> LIVE im Free-TV auf PULS24 <<
Both EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC-KAC suffered defeats on Friday, as the champions lost 2-5 in Villach, where they found themselves trailing 0-4 after just ten minutes and because of three goals conceded while shorthanded. It was Salzburg's first defeat after seven regulation wins in a row before. The record champion drew the short straw against Innsbruck, equalizing an early deficit but then unluckily conceding a second goal. While Salzburg retained its third place, Klagenfurt had to vacate sixth place and fell out of the top-6 for the first time since December 26, but the gap to Vienna (#6) is only two points. Salzburg continues to have the best defense in the league, conceding 1,91 goals per game. The two teams face each other on Sunday for the 157th time in total. Of the previous duels, 83 have gone to the current champions and 73 to the record holders. In the three games this season, the "Rotjacken" have always scored (4-6, 3-4 SO, 3-2 OT). With Troy Bourke, Dominique Heinrich and Peter Hochkofler, the Salzburgers are still missing three regulars and Andrew MacWilliam, who is suspended. The KAC has to do without Kele Steffler, Maximilian Preiml, Nick Petersen, Lukas Haudum, Thomas Koch, Johannes Bischofberger, Finn van Ee and Daniel Obersteiner, with none of these athletes a return to game action is realistic later in January.

Sun, 15.01.2023, 5.30 pm: Steinbach Black Wings Linz – BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg
Referees: BERNEKER, HUBER A., Seewald E., Seewald J. | >> PPV-Livestream <<
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz conceded their 15th defeat of the season on Friday, losing - despite a fighting performance - in the end 1-4 against HCB Südtirol Alperia. This means that the Upper Austrians, currently in fifth place, are only four (to the KAC) and seven (AVS) points ahead of the best teams outside the top-6. In order not to lose further ground in the race for direct playoff qualification, they need a win over BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. The Linz team has not yet been convincing against the bottom team this year, as they won the first game of the season after trailing twice in a shootout, and in the second game they lost 2-3 at home. At the moment, the team's form also speaks somewhat against Lukas' team: they have lost five of their last seven games. Especially offensively, things are not going according to plan, with only 14 goals scored in the last eight games. On the other hand, the comeback of Brian Lebler after an upper-body injury seems possible. The situation in Vorarlberg is different: The Pioneers have won three of their last four games - and showed morale especially in the 5-4 after overtime against Graz. David Madlener, Valentin Ploner, Hampus Eriksson and Tyler Sandhu are still missing.
