Olimpija Ljubljana opened the new win2day ICE Hockey League season with a bang. After two games, the Slovenians sit atop the standings with a combined score of 15–3 – thanks in large part to new addition T.J. Brennan. The American defenseman, who is making his ICE comeback after several years, impressed right away with five points in his first two outings.

“It was a great start for our team, and of course we’re happy with the results,” Brennan said. “We’re a confident group that goes into every game believing we can win. So it’s not a huge surprise to us – but we want to build on that foundation.”

For the 34-year-old blueliner, returning to Central Europe is something special: “I’m happy to be back in the win2day ICE Hockey League. I had a great experience here a few years ago and have been following the league ever since. It’s exciting to play in such a competitive environment again and to be part of an organization that’s on the rise.”

Brennan also picked up right where he left off personally. Back in 2019/20, during his season with Salzburg, he recorded 59 points – a mark he isn’t putting front and center despite the hot start: “Obviously it feels good to get on the scoresheet early in the season. But my main goal is to lead Ljubljana to a championship. That’s where my focus is.”

Next weekend will bring another test as Olimpija faces the Graz99ers and BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. “That’s going to be a real challenge for us,” Brennan noted. “Both teams work hard, and we’re preparing all week for them. We’re not taking any opponent lightly – our goal is to keep moving forward.”
