With T.J. Brennan and István Sofron two players return to the win2day ICE Hockey League. The 36-year-old defenseman T.J. Brennan joined Olimpija Ljubljana. The US-American already played for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the 2021/22 season. With an impressive 59 points, he became the best defenseman in the entire league at the time - and crowned his strong season with the championship title with the Red Bulls. The 37-year-old István Sofron will play for league newcomer FTC-Telekom Budapest in the coming season. The forward has already played 432 games in the win2day ICE Hockey League, most of them for Fehérvár. In addition, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz have extended the contract with goaltender Thomas Höneckl.

T.J. Brennan was on the ice for EC Red Bull Salzburg in 60 league games in the 2021-22 season. The US-American recorded an impressive 59 points - more than any other defenseman in the entire league. After his time in Salzburg, Brennan moved to HC Ajoie in Switzerland, where he was under contract until the end of past season. Now the 36-year-old has joined Olimpija Ljubljana. Before moving to Europe, Brennan played over 700 games in the AHL. In addition, the left-handed shooter played 53 times in the NHL for the Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Höneckl stays in Linz
Thomas Höneckl remains with the Steinbach Black Wings Linz for another season and completes the goalie duo. The now 35-year-old is thus entering his fifth year at the Upper Austrians. Last season, the Salzburg native was slowed down by an injury around the turn of the year and had to give way to his Finnish goalie partner Rasmus Tirronen in the decisive stage of the season.

Budapest brings István Sofron back to the league
István Sofron will play for league newcomers FTC-Telekom Budapest in the coming season. The 37-year-old forward has already played 432 games in the win2day ICE Hockey League - most of them for Fehérvár. The six-time Hungarian champion has also played for EC-KAC and Villach. In the past six seasons, Sofron has mainly played for teams in the Erste Liga.
