A total of eight games are scheduled in the Alps Hockey League this weekend. The leading trio HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, Red Bull Hockey Juniors and Hockey Unterland Cavaliers want to extend their respective winning streaks. In addition, EHC Lustenau will play two road games.

The EC-KAC Future Team suffered their second defeat of the season against league newcomer Unterland with 0:2 on Thursday. It was the third defeat in a row for the Carinthians, who are in 14th place. Their upcoming opponents from Zell am See celebrated a narrow victory over Kitzbühel in front of an almost sold-out crowd this week. The Salzburgers won seven of their last eight games and are in fourth place in the table. In the current season, both teams have already faced each other in ppreseason and on first game day. Zell am See won both games with 5:1 (preseason) and 5:2 (round 1).

With two wins in a row, the Rittner Buam recently improved to eighth place. Lustenau, on the other hand, comes to Klobenstein with a defeat: after scoring eight goals against Meran, the Vorarlberg team was defeated by Sterzing 0:1 after overtime. Now the EHC wants to confirm its upward trend in the first of two games this weekend. Although Lustenau currently have the third-best defence, they are only 13th in the league. Ritten won eight of their nine AHL home games against the Vorarlberg side - in all of these games at least five goals were scored.

Jesenice currently holds eleven wins in a row. Most recently, the league leader turned the game in Gardena in its favour after trailing and celebrated a clear 5:2 victory. The Slovenians have the best offence as well as by far the best defence (on average only 1.23 goals conceded per game). Now Jesenice will meet Kitzbühel for the first time this season, the teams faced each other once in the preseason - the Slovenians won 3:1. After the Tyroleans had previously gained at least one point in their last seven games - six of them were wins - the Eagles were narrowly defeated 2:3 in Zell am See on Tuesday. The KEC is sixth in the table. With three wins and three defeats, the away record is balanced so far. Jesenice won ten of twelve direct league duels, at home the Slovenians kept the upper hand in all six games.

With a 5:3 win over Meran, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated their fourth win in a row on Thursday. In these games, the currently second-placed Salzburgers scored a total of 18 goals and thus proved their offensive qualities. Cortina is currently showing a completely different trend, having lost its last three games and falling back to fifth place. The last defeat came on Tuesday against the Hockey Juniors, who won 5:3 away from home. Salzburg also won four of seven AHL home games against Cortina, exactly one year ago the Juniors even won 10:3.

The Steel Wings conceded their ninth defeat in a row in Meran on Tuesday. Although the last-placed team in the table was only beaten twice by more than two goals, the Upper Austrians only picked up one point in those games. Meran were beaten in Salzburg just two days after their victory over Linz. With 65 goals conceded in 15 games, the South Tyroleans have the weakest defence in the league. While Linz celebrated their only win of the season at home, HCM lost six of eight away games. In addition, the Steel Wings won the two AHL home games against the Eagles so far.

On Tuesday Gardena had to admit defeat at home against Jesenice. The South Tyroleans lost five of their last six matches. Their only victory was against their upcoming opponents: in the first duel of the season against Bregenzerwald, the "Furie" won 6:0 away from home. The team from Vorarlberg is looking for redemption, but recently suffered four defeats in a row. In Gardena, ECB have not yet won anything in the Alps Hockey League. The home side won all eight duels after regulation, but five games were decided with only a one-goal difference.

After the game at the Rittner Buam, it's on to Fassa for Lustenau on Sunday. The Falcons won only one of their last four games, but celebrated three victories in a row at home. Fassa won their first meetng with Lustenau, getting an overtime victory in Vorarlberg.

Sterzing kept a clean sheet in Lustenau on Tuesday and eventually celebrated a 1:0 win after overtime. The Broncos are in seventh place in the table, but have had problems at home: in seven home games they have picked up only eight points. After four wins in a row, opponents Unterland are in third place. The league newcomer won the first duel of the season 4:2.
