The Rittner Buam SkyAlps are in action for the second time this week. On Tuesday, the defending Alps Hockey League champions lost the derby in Sterzing with 1:5. It was the first defeat for the “Buam” after six league wins in a row. On Thursday, the second-placed team in the table will face leaders EK Die Zeller Eisbären at home, who have won eleven of their last thirteen games. With 38 points, the team from Pinzgau currently has a one-point lead over the “Buam”. In the first duel of the season, Ritten won at home with 3:1.

The Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel are just two points behind Zell am See in third place in the table. The Tyroleans will host fourth-placed SIJ Acroni Jesenice, who are three points behind the “Eagles”, on Thursday. With four wins in a row, Kitzbühel are currently in very good form. Jesenice have won three of their last five games. With 42 (JES) and 44 goals conceded (KEC) respectively, both teams have the best defenses in the league. With 77 goals scored, Kitzbühel also has the best offense in the Alps Hockey League. In their first meeting this season, Jesenice won 5:2 in Kitzbühel.

The clash between HK RST Pellet Celje and KHL Sisak is also a duel between two neighbors in the standings. With 31 points, the league newcomers from Croatia are currently fifth in the table, followed by Celje, who are sixth with 29 points. There could still be changes in the table on Wednesday evening, as seventh-placed Cortina visit Bregenzerwald. A win would see the Italians move past Celje in the table. Sisak ended a six-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 4:3 away win in Val Gardena. Celje, on the other hand, have been unbeaten for three games, beating Cortina and local rivals Jesenice twice. Both teams will face each other for the first time in the Alps Hockey League on Thursday.

In the fourth game of the day, the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers will face HC Meran/o Pircher. Unterland is currently in ninth place and six points behind fifth-placed Sisak. Merano have failed to win any of their last three games and have slipped to the bottom of the table. However, they are still only five points behind the Cavaliers, who have also failed to win any of their last three matches. The two teams will face each other for the third and final time in the Regular Season on Thursday. So far, Merano have prevailed in overtime both times, once turning a 0:3 deficit into a win.
