In Friday's four games all road teams got the win. In Pick Round the top 3, Moser Medical Graz99ers, spusu Vienna Capitals and EC-KAC, held the upper hand. In Qualification Round HC Orli Znojmo extended their lead. In addition, Graz and Dornbirn signed new goalies.

Fri, 15.02.2019: HCB Südtirol Alperia –  Moser Medical Graz99ers 2:4 (1:1 – 1:1 - 0:2)

The Moser Medical Graz 99ers confirmed their outstanding performance this season with their victory against Bozen. The Leader was able to win the game 4:2 because of their strong powerplay game. From the beginning of the game Graz tried to dominate. Bozen was not able to hold against their strong offenisive play with Dominik Grafenthin opening the scoring. Within the first period Anton Bernard equalized the game. Time after time the hosts started to play better and with the beginning of the second period the foxes even had the chance to take the lead. The game started to get very intense and rough. Six minutes before the end of the second period Mike Blunden took the lead for Bozen. But just a few minutes later Curtis Hamilton scored after a nice assist by Garbowsky. In the last period the guests once again showed their powerplay class and decided the game. First Matt Caito took the lead for the 99ers. Just five minutes before the end of the game the guests scored a real powerplay beauty. The puck came from Johansson and Yellow Horn to King, who chipped the puck in and made it 4:2. The victory over Bozen was their sixth win in a row.

The spusu vienna capitals celebrated their second win in their second pick round game. The guests decided the game against EC Red Bull Salzburg 2:3 after shootout. Just with their second chance of the game Andreas Nödl opened the Capitals score. The hosts started to play more aggressive and were able to equalize the game five minutes later when Brent Regner made his team celebrate. After a horrible mistake from Dominique Heinrich in the second period, Peter Schneider took advantage with a beautiful onetimer – 1:2. Then Nissner went for the second time this evening into the penalty box. Matthias Trattnig was on the spot and hit from full speed to 2: 2. Curious: Trattnig came with a new stick directly from the bench after his previous was broken during a shot before. In a high intense third period the teams defended the score. After no goals being scored during overtime the game was decided in shootout. Once again Peter Schneider kept cool und was able to score the decisive penalty for the Capitals.

Fri, 15.02.2019: Fehervar AV19 vs. EC-KAC 1:4 (0:1, 0:0, 1:3)

On Friday EC KAC earned a 4:1 away win over fear opponent Fehervar. The Carinthians decided a very intense game in the third period. The guests from Klagenfurt dominated the first period and took the lead in the 9th minute. Andrew Kozek opened the score per rebound after Robin Gartner missed his chance to score. The Carinthians immediately pushed for the second goal but were not able to convert their dominance into goals. In the second period both teams had their chances and tried to control lengthy periods of the game. During a powerplay for Fehervar, it was Ty Wishart who delivered and balanced the game. A few minutes later Wishart`s equalizer was answered by Stefan Geier – 2:1. Just one minute later, KAC took the momentum and increased to 3:1. After Thomas Hundertpfund`s pass, Mitch Wahl made the decisive goal and opened the way for a KAC win. Within the last few minutes Fehervar tried to avoid the home defeat and pulled goalkeeper MacMillan Carruth. Johannes Bischofberger made the final point with his empty net goal in this fast-paced game. Thanks to a strong away performance against fear opponent Fehervar the Carinthians celebrated a 4-1 win and remain unbeaten for five games.

2nd Qualification Round:
Fri, 15.02.2019: HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ - HC Orli Znojmo 3:7 (1:3, 1:2, 1:2)
Referees: K. NIKOLIC, STERNAT, Pardatscher, Schaue; 1800 spectators
 
HC Orli Znojmo was able to beat HC Innsbruck with 7:3 and continue their winning streak against them. In front of 1800 spectators the hosts had the better start into the game but were not able to take the lead. In the 10th minute Hlava opened the scoring and made it 1:0 for Znojmo. Six minutes later the hosts were able to equalize with Andrew Yogan balancing the score. But Znojmo wasn`t really shocked and had the perfect answer. Mrazek and Nemec scored two goals within two minutes. In the 28th minute John Lammers shortened the lead with his flick. Just four minutes later Lattner scored again for Znojmo and managed to build again a two goal lead. But Innsbruck kept going and Alex Lavoie again narrowed the gap. A few minutes before the end of the game Dominik Tejnor scored on powerplay. Znojmo remains first in the Qualification Round and confirmed their outstanding shape.

Dornbirn and Graz sign goalies
Graz goalie Thomas Höneckl suffered a season ending injury. He is replaced by the talents Felix Nussbacher (AUT) and Simon Rönning (SWE), both fighting for the back-up position behind Robin Rahm. In addition, Dornbirn Bulldogs found a replacement for injured Robin Rahm. The 23-year-old Czech Miroslav Svoboda will debut on Sunday in Znojmo.
