Harty new at Szekesfehervar
Fehervar AV19 brings Jonathan Harty back into the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. The defenseman played already last season 23 games for HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in Austrians highest League, scoring 13 points (5G/8A). The Canadian then finished the season at Heilbronner Falken. For the German club Harty made 2016/17 another 32 games in the DEL/2, scoring another 25 points. Before the 29-years old Canadian played in Europa since 2012 already in France (Angers and Grenobe) and in Schweden (Mora and Björklöven). “I enjoyed playing in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga last year and was excited for the opportunity to be able to come back and play. Benoit called me and we had a good talk, it seemed like and it would be a good fit for both of us. I only played the first half of last year but I always thought that Szekesfehervar was a big strong team hard to move off the puck. I liked playing in the rink because of it's character and the atmosphere created by the fans. I like to think I can help the team in many areas, I'm a physical player that prides myself defensively and likes to contribute offensively as well. I like to think I'm an all around player that can fill any roll that needs to be filled and I'll happily do it to help our team win.”, said Harty. And Fehervar’s Headcoach Benoit Laporte knows: „Harty is a good complete defenseman, and he has experience in the league. He is a good leader with good work ethic who plays with intensity.“
