Mike Halmo gives comeback in Bolzano
With Mike Halmo, the HCB Südtirol Alperia has brought back a guarantee of success from its last championship season. The Canadian scored 54 scorer points on his way to his second win of the Karl Nedwed Trophy.
For Halmo, the 2017/18 season at HCB Südtirol Alperia was his first stop in Europe. Before that he played around 300 games in the American Hockey League and exactly 20 games for the New York Islanders in the NHL. Afterwards the Canadian went to Ilves Tampere in the Finnish Liiga, the preseason he played in the DEL with the Iserlohn Roosters.

Mike Halmo: "I am very happy to wear the white-red jersey again. I'm looking forward to see all the fans in the Eiswelle again and make the best of this championship. We will do everything we can to bring the cup back to Bolzano".

Justin Schütz moves to Salzburg on loan
Justin Schütz follows his team colleague John Peterka. Like Peterka before him, the Munich forward is moving to EC Red Bull Salzburg on a loan basis until the start of the PENNY DEL season.

At the age of 14, Justin Schütz moved from the youth department of the Iserlohn EC to the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy in Salzburg-Liefering. There the left-handed shooter scored goals for several academy teams for four years before he moved from the Red Bull Hockey Juniors to the EHC Red Bull Munich during the 2018/19 season. Since then, the 20-year-old has played 45 games for the three-time German champion in the DEL (7 goals, 6 assists) and 12 matches in the Champions Hockey League (4 goals, 1 assist). In 2018, Schütz was selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round of the NHL Entry Draft. One year later he participated in the NHL Club Development Camp and trained there for one week under the supervision of the NHL coaches.

Justin Schütz: "I think, especially for younger players like me, there is nothing more important than gaining real competitive experience in competitive matches. I now have this chance here in Salzburg, and I am very grateful to my organization for this. Here I can develop personally and get used to professional ice hockey. It's also nice to see many players in the professional squad of the Salzburg team again, with whom I already played in the academy. It's a bit like coming home. I'm really looking forward to the end of September".

VSV loans DEL forward
EC VSV signed the German team striker Maximilian Kammerer on loan from the Düsseldorfer EG. The 23-year-old will play for EC VSV until start of practice in Düsseldorf.

The 23-year-old left winger returned to DEG from the American Hockey League last season. He played 51 main round games for the red-yellow team and scored 15 goals and 16 assists. Before returning to DEG, the Düsseldorf-born player spent a year in North America.
During his four years as a professional for the Düsseldorfer EG, the left-handed shooter ran up 176 times, scored 37 goals and provided 55 assists. In the 2016/17 season, the DEL also named him "Rookie of the Year". In spring 2017, the German was appointed to the senior national team for the first time by national team coach Marco Sturm.

Maximilian Kammerer: "I am really looking forward to Villach. Since the DEL will not start until mid-November this year, I can use the time effectively, get into ice training now and play a few games for the EC VSV as well as gain the necessary practice".

VSV hosts Salzburg for revenge
The EC VSV hosts the EC Red Bull Salzburg on Friday for revenge. Last week both teams played their first game of the preseason in the "first leg". Salzburg prevailed with a young team 2:1. While the Villach-based team has played two more games in the meantime (6:3 victory over HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and the game against the Graz99ers scheduled for Thursday), it is the second test for Salzburg. At the second meeting with the blue and white eagles, Salzburg's new forward Justin Schütz will make his debut with the Red Bulls' professionals. The game will be broadcast via pay-per-view livestream.

KAC starts Pre Season against Jesenice
With three performances in the Stadthalle Klagenfurt on September 4, 6 and 9, the EC-KAC starts its series of test games in preparation for the upcoming 2020/21 season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. The Klagenfurt team will play their first game against HDD SIC Acroni Jesenice. All three games will be made available to the public as online video streams according to the pay-per-view principle.
