Troy Rutkowski (#92) of EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz, time 44:24 was involved in an incident deemed as Interference (IIHF Rule 149). The video evidence was sent to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC, which determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline - Category 2- 'Reckless'.

According to the Arbitratorand having considered the video evidence and ruling of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga PSC, Troy Rutkowski (#92) of EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz, will receive supplementary discipline under rule 149 – Interference.

On December 28th in Vienna, an interferenceincident occurred involving EHC LIWESTBlack Wings Linz D'Man (#92) Troy Rutkowski on spusu Vienna Capitals forward (#6) Rafael Rotter.A 2+2 minute penalty was assessed by the on-ice officials.

As the video shows, play is in the Vienna attacking zone. With a reverse dump occurring, the puck is rimmed around high on the corner boards and traveling towards the backside of the net, with puck possession being gained by Linz #37 Andreas Kristler. Rafael Rotter never did have possession or control of the puck.

Troy Rutkowski read the wrap around and immediately skated in the direction of Rafael Rotter from the opposite side of the net of the puck approach. It can be deemed that Rutkowski in reading the play, is anticipatingRotter gaining puck possession and wants to make a legal defensive play in making a body check. However, Rotter with no possession or control of the puck, is not deemed legal to be checked. At the proximity of the goal line, Rutkowski removes his lower hand and began loading for a body check. At this point forward Rutkowski has no regard for the puck. Instead, Rutkowski delivered an excessive body check on a unsuspecting opponent.

Rutkowski must have a regard for the puck. Additionally, body checks are to separate the puck from the puck carrier. An excessive body check must be avoided on a non-puck carrier.

Effectiveimmediately, Troy Rutkowski (#92) of EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz is suspended for 2 games and fined 500.00 Euros.
