Jimi Kuronen (#18) of EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, time 59:09, demonstrated a gesture that is deemed as Abuse of Officials, IIHF Rule 39. Based on the video evidence and the official’s report, it is determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline.

Jimi Kuronen, following a penalty call against him, skated off to the penalty bench. After entering the penalty box, he took a garbage can and threw it onto the ice in the direction of the on-ice officials. The behavior and gestures of Jimi Kuronen are considered inappropriate and demonstrate a lack of respect, not only towards the on-ice officials, but also towards all involved persons and the game itself. It was taken into consideration, that Kuronen’s emotions, in a tied game close to the end, may have risen, but that doesn’t give him the right to be led by his emotions and act the way he did.

From the perspective of DOPS and according to the AlpsHL Penalty Catalog Ref. Nr. 150 - Damage to sporting integrity by players, Jimi Kuronen (#18) of EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, is suspended for 2 games, effective immediately.
