In the next season KHL Medvescak Zagreb fans will get the chance to watch Finish Liiga star Marko Poyhonen and prooved Canadian centre Tyler Morley.
Poyhonen spent his entire career playing in Finland and his transfer to Medvescak will be his first international experience. Finnish player can play at his best both in defence and offense and he comes to Medvescak after spending 13 years playing for Pelicans in Finnish Liiga. After he prooved his skills in junior team, Poyhonen became full member of the first team in 2008. He played 433 games for Pelicans scoring 34 goals and assisting 84 times. He also spent four short periods on loan playing in Mestis (Finnish second division) playing for Heki and Peliitat. Biggest success of his career came in 2012 when Pelicans played in the playoffs final. Poyhonen played 16 games in the playoffs and in his last season for Pelicans he played 56 games scoring 25 points. He also played nine games for under 16 and under 20 Finnish national team. „Marko is a smooth skating offensive defenseman who led his Liiga team in defenseman scoring last season.  He will be a great addition to our powerplay and brings us another quality defenseman playing in an elite European league“, Medvescak Sports Director Aaron Fox said.
Second Medvescak signing comes from Canadian town Burnaby and it's centre Tyler Morley who played in PIJHL and BCHL in his junior days. Morley spent five seasons in those leagues playing 237 games scoring 72 goals and racking 94 Assists. It was enough to go to college where Morley spent four great years. In his first season at the University of Alaska he was included in NCAA All-Rookie Team and in 2014/15 and 2015/16 season Morley was in the Western Conference First All-Star Team. In his last season at the University Morley got the honour to be the captain of his team. „Tyler is quick offensive center who should be a real effective player in the European game. He played last year in the AHL and was a standout NCAA player before that. He should be a solid offensive center and give us some real depth at the center position“, Fox concluded. In his four years at the University of Alaska Morley played 129 games scoring incredible 122 points. In the last season Canadian centre played 48 games in the AHL for San Diego Gulls. His team also made the playoffs.
