The UPC Vienna Capitals started with David Kickert in the net into final 4 and EC-KAC with David Madlener. The Carinthians had the better start: Already after 33 seconds Matthew Neal scored the lead. But the guests stayed unimpressed and quickly turned the game around: First Rafael Rotter took advantage from a rebound in minute 5 and then Andreas Nödl finished a good pass from Taylor Vause in a shorthanded situation after a mistake from Kevin Kapstad. Klagenfurts defenseman quickly had the chance to compensate his mistake, but he just hit the post. Finally 51 seconds before the end of period 1 Ziga Pance scored the 2:2 in a Power Play from a sharp angel.

After the re-start the Capitals re-took the lead: In a Power Play Ryan McKiernan made the 3:2 with a placed shot. EC-KAC tried to answer, but the guests defended well and so chances were rare for Klagenfurt, who also missed the luck: With Patrick Harand another Klagenfurt player just hit the post. In period 3 Kickert and once again the post after a shot from Pance in minute 47 did not allow a comeback from the Red Jackets.

The UPC Vienna Capitals won also final number 4 at EC-KAC 3:2 and are the first team, who reach the title in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga without a defeat in the Playoffs!
