Finnish Tomek Valtonen will remain head coach of HC Pustertal in the upcoming season. Valtonen was born in Poland in 1980 (mother Polish, father Finnish), grew up in Finland and learned to play ice hockey there. After his professional career (years in the SM League, national team), the leap over the boards to the coaching bench followed already at the age of 29. The seamless transition took him from Jokerit (juniors) to the Finnish junior team to no less than five years as head coach in Finland's first league. The last years he spent in Poland (Nowy Targ & National Team), Germany (Ravensburg), Sweden (Mora), Michalovce (Slovakia) and finally in November 2022 Valtonen took over HC Pustertal.

Tomek Valtonen: "I feel very comfortable in Bruneck and I like being here. I like the people I work with and I'm really impressed with the club and the work that is done to develop and constantly improve. Right now, I'm subordinating everything to the goal of reaching the pre-playoffs. We have to fight until the end and play with great heart, then I'm convinced we can do it. Finally, I would like to thank our fans for their great support. I'm really happy to stay here with HC Pustertal for a longer time now."
