Bolzano wins on the road
Vienna and Bolzano were two teams that started the Pick Round victoriously. The home side got off a better start and already in the sixth minute Sascha Bauer caught HCB-goalie Leland Irving cold for 1:0. But the answer of the league leader was not long in coming and Domenico Alberga scored the equaliser. Then the power play formations came into their own. First Brett Findlay (12./PP) turned the game around, but one second before the end of the period Darren Archibald equalised, also with numerical superiority. After a goalless middle period, HCB managed to regain the lead in the 53rd minute - Mike Halmo converted his own rebound. The victory was within reach for the South Tyroleans. When Vienna took goalie Bernhard Starkbaum off the ice, the visitors missed the decision by centimetres. A little later Ty Loney was in the right place and forced an overtime. The Caps were unable to take advantage of a power play, but the league leaders did better - in the 64th minute Dennis Robertson scored with a man advantage for a 3:4 away win. For Bolzano it was the first road win after three defeats before.

Fehérvár continue home series
While the KAC had to accept a 1:2 defeat after overtime against Vienna on Sunday to open the intermediate round, Fehérvár only started the Pick Round with a home game against Klagenfurt on Tuesday. The only goal in the first period came from Toni Kähkönen, who beat KAC goalkeeper David Madlener with a one timer. Shortly after the restart, Paul Postma, who later went off injured, equalised. But Alex Petan (30th) and Colton Hargrove (38th) scored to give the home side a two-goal lead after 40 minutes. Then, however, the KAC managed to come back: after a pass from Samuel Witting, Matt Fraser slid in for 3:2. Ten minutes before the end it was Witting himself who dusted into the empty goal to equalise. In the end, a penalty against Martin Schumnig was the visitors' undoing. The Klagenfurt side defended well at first, but then Csanad Erdely scored to give Fehervar the lead again. With a goal into the empty net Andrew Sarauer fixed the fourth home win in a row for the Hungarians, who climbed to second place. The KAC, on the other hand, remained without a point in a direct duel for the first time this season.
