Victories for Ljubljana, Pustertal, Asiago and Red Bull Hockey Juniors

With the HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana and the HC Pustertal Wölfe, the top duo of the Alps Hockey League won on Saturday. In addition, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, two more teams from the top five, won. Third in the standings, Jesenice, was not in action. The bottom from the standings, the Steel Wings Linz, sniffed at a big surprise at SHC Fassa Falcons. After the first period, the Linz team was already leading with 2:0, but in the end the Falcons won with 5:2. In the other two games, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan (5:4) and the Rittner Buam (4:3-SO) prevailed.

Asiago won against Lustenau
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey celebrated a clear victory against the EHC Lustenau, dispatching the Vorarlberg side with 7:1. For the Italians it was the fourth AHL victory in a row, the EHC conceded the third defeat in a row. Already after the first period the hosts led with 3:0. Right in the first minute of the second period ASH struck twice and increased to 5:0. A short time later Lustenau scored their only goal of the game, in the powerplay. The hosts added two more goals later. In the standings, Asiago consolidated the fifth place with the win and increased the lead over the EHC Lustenau, which is in sixth place, to five points.

Feldkirch without a chance against Ljubljana
League leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana gave the VEU Feldkirch no chance in a 6:1 home win and celebrated the fourth consecutive victory over the Vorarlberg team. For the VEU, on the other hand, the decline continues. It was already the fifth defeat fort he eight in the standings. Ljubljana scored two goals in each period. Not a single player scored twice. The only goal of the VEU was the intermediate equalizer to 1:1. For the VEU, the road trip in Slovenia continues already tomorrow, Sunday. This time the Vorarlberg side play at the third in the standings, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice.

Pustertal returns to winning ways against KA2
The HC Pustertal Wölfe prevailed against the EC-KAC II with 4:2 and celebrated the first win in the AHL after two defeats in a row. In the standings Pustertal is still one point behind Ljubljana on second place. Period number one ended with 2:0 for the hosts, who scored both goals in the powerplay. In the second period the guests from Klagenfurt could even the score. In the last period, it was again the hosts who scored twice and thus won for the eighth time in a row against the KA2.

No chance for Cortina against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors confirmed their good form also at S.G. Cortina Hafro and won clearly with 8:3 at the Italians. It was the fourth win in a row for the Juniors, who remain in fourth place in the standings. While Cortina celebrated a surprising 3:2 OT win against league leader Ljubljana last Tuesday, the seventh-placed team in the standings was without a chance today. Eight of the eleven goals in this game were scored in the middle period. While Cortina scored all three goals in this, the Juniors netted five times in the second period. RBJ scored once in the first period, and the Juniors added two more goals in the final period. Cortina already has the chance to do better tomorrow, Sunday, against the Steel Wings Linz.

Shootout victory of Ritten at Bregenzerwald
The Ritten Buam prevailed at the EC Bregenzerwald with 4:3 after shootout and inflicted the fourth defeat in a row on the Vorarlbergers. In the standings, the "Buam" move up to the "Wälder". Both teams hold at 32 points and are ranked ninth (ECB) and tenth (RIT). Bregenzerwald got the better start in the game. After seven minutes they already led with 2:0. Shortly before the end of the first period the guests scored for the first time through MacGregor Sharp. The 35-year-old Canadian also sent RIT into overtime with his goal to make it 3:3 with five and a half minutes left in the game. As there was no decision in the following overtime, it had to be decided in the shootout, in which Simon Kostner scored the decision in favor of the Rittner Buam. For Ritten it was already the eighth victory in the ninth duel with the EC Bregenzerwald.

Close win of the Broncos against Kitzbühel
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, eleventh in the standings, beat the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, 15th in the standings, with 5:4. Until 24 seconds before the end of the game, the hosts were still in front with 5:2. It was the fifth straight win over the KEC for the Broncos, who moved to 9:2 in the H2H. It was the first duel this season. Overall, the hosts continued their strong form. It was already the fourth win from the past five games for WSV. Kitzbühel conceded four defeats from the last five games.

Steel Wings Linz lost despite a two goal lead
The Steel Wings Linz were defeated with 5:2 by the SHC Fassa Falcons. In the meantime, however, the bottom from the standongs from Linz was already leading with 2:0. Both goals were scored by Canadian Francesco Arcuri. From the second period onwards, however, the second-placed team from Fassa took command. The Falcons turned a 0:2 deficit into a 3:2 lead in the second period, and Fassa added two more goals in the final period to win their fifth AHL duel with the Steel Wings. The Linz team is already back in action tomorrow, Sunday, at S.G. Cortina Hafro.
