HCB Südtirol Alperia, meanwhile, managed to inflict the first home defeat of the season on EC-KAC. The only sovereign success on the holiday matchday was for EC Red Bull Salzburg, who extended their lead in the standings, also because EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV had to go over overtime against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey.

Overtime wins for Graz and Villach
The Moser Medical Graz99ers were able to record their second win of the current season in their 16th game of the season or the 14th game in which the Styrians played (two games were penalized). However, this one had to be hard fought against HC Pustertal. The Styrians started determinedly into the game and gained a 2:0 lead through a brace of Anthony Salinitri. Pustertal fought their way back into the match and reached the overtime through a better scoring efficiency. There Ken Ograjensek ensured the victory. For Pustertal, which is still in sixth place, this was already the fourth defeat in a row.

EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV also prevailed in overtime on Wednesday night. But, the Villach side trailed for most of the time against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey before Robert Sabolic's second goal of the night sent the Eagles into overtime - with just over three minutes remaining. There, the offensively strong defenseman Dylan McPherson finally provided the decision. As a result, the Eagles are one point behind second-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and five points behind leader Salzburg after 16 completed games.

Bolzano inflicts first home defeat on KAC
EC-KAC seemed to be almost unbeatable in its home arena - until the 18th round. After an impressive record of seven wins in seven games, HCB Südtirol Alperia became the first team to defeat Klagenfurt in front of their home crowd. Crucial for the success against the KAC was a remarkable solo effort by Dustin Gazley, who made the final score 2:1. The South Tyroleans thus extended their winning run to five victories and moved up to eighth place in the standings.

Wins for Salzburg and Caps
EC Red Bull Salzburg and the spusu Vienna Capitals each celebrated victories on Wednesday night. While the Red Bulls extended their lead in the standings with an unchallenged 3:1 win over HC TIWAG Innsbruck, Vienna managed to turn the match around after trailing 0:2 at HK SZ Olimpija to win 2:3 and thus celebrate their second win in the last three games.
