„best-of-seven” series: 2:3
The EC-KAC extended the "best-of-seven" quarterfinal series against the spusu Vienna Capitals for a sixth game with a 3-2 overtime win on Friday. For the first time this season, the reigning champions were able to turn a two-goal deficit into a win, also because Martin Schumnig scored the first brace of his career. In their playoff history, the "Rotjacken" have been down 2:3 in a series a total of five times, only in the 2010 quarterfinals against Salzburg did Klagenfurt force game seven. The Viennese play game six for the seventh time with a 3:2 lead, in five of the six cases so far the "Caps" decided the series in favor, but only three times they were able to win the sixth game as well. Despite the defeat, the Viennese found their power play strength again on Friday, scoring twice five on four. The two-time champions from the Austrian capital have won both playoff games in this series at Klagenfurt so far. Vienna still misses suspended Charles Dodero, the injured Matt Neal is questionable. Jakob Holzer, Steven Strong, Rok Tičar and Johannes Bischofberger are unavailable for the KAC due to injury, while Niklas Würschl and Clemens Unterweger may be back in the line-up.

„best-of-seven” series: 2:3
HK SZ Olimpija also averted an early exit from the season on Friday, as the Slovenians won 8:6 at EC GRAND Immo VSV in a high-scoring game and reduced the score in the best-of-seven quarterfinal series to 2:3. With 14 goals, game five of this series was also the highest-scoring playoff encounter since the league was founded. A total of 51 goals have already been scored between Villach and Ljubljana, 10.2 per game. "Adler" John Hughes has already scored in double figures in this series, recording one goal and ten assists. On the "Dragons" side, Guillaume Leclerc (5G|4A) is the top scorer in the playoff. Gregor Koblar set the game-winner on Friday with the goal for the interim 7:4. He also scored the decisive goal in Ljubljana's first quarterfinal win. He is the lone player in the running playoffs (including pre-playoffs) who has scored two game-winners. Villach will have to do without Chris Collins and Yannic Pilloni. Whether Nico Brunner and Renars Krastenbergs, who have been ill recently, will be back in the line-up will be decided on gameday.
