The two teams met again just two days after EC Red Bull Salzburg's 3:2 overtime win over the spusu Vienna Capitals. In the first duel of the season in Vienna, the Red Bulls were coached by Ben Cooper and Daniel Petersson, as head coach Matt McIlvane is still in quarantine. Lucas Thaler gave the visitors the lead in the 7th minute with a shot from the left face-off circle. The home side had much more of the game after that, but hit the bar three times in the first period. TJ Brennan did better, taking advantage of a 3-on-2 counter-attack in the 19th minute to give Salzburg a 2:0 lead. After the restart, JP Lamoureux was able to distinguish himself in the goal of the league leader a few times, he kept the two-goal lead after 40 minutes. In the final period, however, the Viennese turned the game on its head. In the heated game Nikolaus Hartl (50th) scored from close range, Mario Fischer (55th) from the high slot and Fabio Artner (58th) finally scored from close range for a 3:2 lead. The Red Bulls then tried it with six skaters, but could not add any more. After five recent defeats against Salzburg, the Capitals were victorious once again and returned to the top six in the standings.

KAC stays in fifth place after home win over Linz
EC-KAC, on the other hand, were able to confirm their win two days ago in Linz and came away with an unchallenged 4:1 victory in front of their home crowd. Juha Vuori acted as head coach for the Red Jackets in this game as Petri Matikainen had undergone a long-planned medical procedure earlier in the week. The only goal in the first period was scored by David Maier (13th), who had already been on loan to the Upper Austrians this season to gain match practice. First, Linz goalkeeper Thomas Höneckl made a save against Steven Strong, but Maier converted the rebound for his second goal of the season. Shortly after the first intermission, the superior Klagenfurt team scored twice within 81 seconds through Paul Postma and Matt Fraser. The Upper Austrians, for whom Rafael Rotter made a surprising comeback, were unable to make any headway. Lukas Haudum increased the lead to 4:0 on power play in the 46th minute, but KAC goalkeeper Val Usnik was denied his first shutout as Brian Lebler scored the consolation goal for the bottom team, also on the powerplay, shortly before the end.
