Important victory for Capitals
Another important victory in the fight for the Top-6 was achieved by the spusu Vienna Capitals. In an offensive spectacle, the Austrian capitals beat bottom of the table Steinbach Black Wings Linz with 6:3 and celebrated their second win in a row. They are in fifth place in the standings. In the direct comparison with the team from Lint, it was the Caps' fourth win in the fourth duel of the season. The guests from Upper Austria took the lead in the tenth minute of the game. But shortly before the end of the first period, the home side equalized in the overtime. From the middle period onwards, the Capitals increasingly took command in front of 2000 spectators, scored three times, but also conceded two more goals. Right at the beginning of the final period, Joel Lowry was able to re-establish the two-goal lead. Thereupon the resistance of the Black Wings was broken. The final goal was again scored by Canadian Lowry, who was the only player to score twice this evening.

Graz has Fehérvár under control again

The Moser Medical Graz99ers kept the upper hand also in the second game within 24 hours against Hydro Fehérvár AV19. After the 3:1 victory on Thursday, the Styrians clearly prevailed with 4:1 on Friday evening. While the Hungarians, who already conceded their fourth defeat in a row, slipped down to fifth place in the table, Graz is still tenth. The home side set the tone right from the start and scored after just 80 seconds through Dominik Grafenthin to make it 1:0. Just four and a half minutes later Simon Hjalmarsson increased the lead to 2:0 in a double powerplay situation. It then took until the 33rd minute before Graz made it 3:0. Michael Schiechl provided the final decision in the 43rd minute. 99ers goalkeeper Christian Engstrand was on his way to his second shutout of the season for a long time. In the 49th minute, however, Andrew Sarauer scored the consolation goal from the Hungarians' point of view in the power play. In total, four of the five goals of the evening were scored in the powerplay.

Pustertal jumps to seventh place

The HC Pustertal Wölfe is getting closer and closer to its big goal of reaching the Pre-Playoffs in the ICE premiere season. With the clear 6:1 home win against the HC Tesla Orli Znojmo, the South Tyroleans jumped to seventh place in the table. Also the Top-6 and thus the fixed playoff participation is within reach.
