Duel between the opening winners
Nik Simsic scored the first goal of the new season on Friday. The forward even added another goal and played a big part in Olimpija Ljubljana's 3:2 win over Villach. On Sunday, the Slovenians will face EC-KAC on the road. Klagenfurt turned around the final rematch against Salzburg, with Mathias From celebrating a perfect debut. The KAC newcomer scored two goals in his first league game and also potted the decisive penalty to win 4:3 after a shootout. The two teams had already faced each other in the preseason, with Olimpija winning 2:1 at home.

Another duel between two teams that started the season with a win is HC TIWAG Innsbruck against the Moser Medical Graz99ers. After the Tyroleans had no success in the preseason, they won their league opener against the Pioneers 3:1. Graz, on the other hand, turned the game around in Vienna, with new signings Paul Huber and Lukas Haudum scoring in a 2:1 victory. Innsbruck won all four duels with Graz last season, when Nick Albano and Kevin Roy played for the Sharks - they will return in the 99ers jersey on Sunday.

First South Tyrolean derby of the season
The mood ahead of the first South Tyrolean derby of the season could not be more different. Pustertal was beaten by Fehérvár after conceding four goals in the final period, while Bolzano celebrated a 5:0 victory over Linz. The two teams faced each other just last week in the preseason, with HCB winning 1:0 after overtime. There were four away wins in the derby last season.
