In Thomas Raffl's 700th game for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the win2day ICE Hockey League, the Red Bulls were beaten 3:6 by HC Pustertal. As a result, the South Tyroleans overtook the defending champions in the table. With 24 points, the “Wolves” are in fifth place in the table and one point ahead of Salzburg, who are in sixth place - although Pustertal have played three games more. The visitors were still leading 2:1 after the first period, but then Pustertal got into their stride and pulled away to 4:2 in the middle period. The home side scored two powerplay goals in front of 3,104 fans in the sold-out Intercable Arena. Salzburg pulled back to 3:4 right at the start of the final period, but HCP remained unfazed and restored their two-goal lead just a short time later. Alex Petan scored an empty-net goal shortly before the end to make the final score. The forward also scored the 4:2 game-winning-goal, making him the only player to score twice.

Andreas Bernard was in goal for HC Pustertal. The Italian will form a goalie tandem with Edward Pasquale in the future. The Canadian was signed by Pustertal on Saturday. At the same time, the contract with Olivier Roy, who only moved to South Tyrol in the summer, was terminated. The 33-year-old Pasquale last played in the KHL for no less than five years, most recently in Astana, and represented his home country of Canada in two matches at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Villach wins high-scoring game against Asiago
