This year marks the 20th edition of the Young Star of the Season award. As in previous years, monthly winners are determined first. These players will then face off in a final vote during the Playoffs of the win2day ICE Hockey League. In addition to fan voting, TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia will also cast their votes.

Four talented players born in 2004 or later have been nominated for their performances in September and are now up for the first Young Star of the Month award of the season. Fan voting is open until Thursday, October 09, at 11:59 p.m.

The following players are nominated for September:

Miha Beričič (2004) –Olimpija Ljubljana
21-year-old Miha Beričič made a strong start to the season with Olimpija Ljubljana. The forward impressed individually as well, scoring in both the 7–2 win against Villach and the 4–3 road victory in Graz. The Ljubljana native has already made 154 league appearances for his hometown club.

Adrian Gesson (2006) – EC Red Bull Salzburg
At just 19 years old, Adrian Gesson enjoyed a dream start to the season. In Salzburg’s opening game in Bolzano, the Vorarlberg native scored to make it 3–1 in what would end as a 4–3 win for the Red Bulls. It was his first league goal in only his third career appearance.

Tommy Purdeller (2004) – HC Falkensteiner Pustertal
Reigning Young Star of the Season Tommy Purdeller has once again been nominated for the first Young Star of the Month title of the new campaign. The 2004-born forward of HC Pustertal recorded two goals and one assist in five September appearances. Last season, the South Tyrolean claimed the overall title ahead of Marcel Mahkovec (OLL) and Tobias Sablattnig (KAC).

Paul Sintschnig (2009) – EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV
Only 16 years old, Paul Sintschnig made his debut in the win2day ICE Hockey League at the start of the season — and wasted no time making an impact. In VSV’s 8–3 road win in Linz, the Carinthian forward opened the scoring and later added the final goal. Sintschnig is now the second-youngest goalscorer since the league was founded and the youngest player ever to score a brace. He continued his strong form in the following 4–3 victory in Graz, contributing one goal and one assist.

Voting process
A total of six monthly winners will be determined over the course of the season. Each month, four players are nominated and put to a public vote. The six monthly winners will then compete at the start of the Playoffs for the overall title of Young Star of the Season 2025/26.

The final results are based on two components: the fan voting on the league’s website and the votes from TV experts in Austria, Italy and Slovenia. In the event of a tie, the ranking will be decided by the results of the fan vote.
