Voting for the Young Star of the 2024/25 season

The voting for the Young Star of the 2024/25 season is open. You can vote for the winner of the season until Tuesday, March 11 at 10:00 pm. The five monthly winners are up for election. One player each of HC Pustertal, Olimpija Ljubljana, EC-KAC, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Steinbach Black Wings Linz are nominated.

A total of five players are nominated for the Young Star of the 2023/24 season. The fans and TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia will once again vote for the season's winner from the previous monthly winners. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.

The following five young players born in 2003 and younger are nominated for the election.

Tommy Purdeller (HC Pustertal) | Winner September/October
The 20-year-old Tommy Purdeller from Bruneck is currently playing his first professional season with his hometown club. In 52 appearances so far this season, the forward has scored 35 points and achieved a plus/minus balance of +18. In September and October, Purdeller impressed with five goals and seven assists.

Marcel Mahkovec (Olimpija Ljubljana) | Winner November
Marcel Mahkovec was named Young Star of the Season last campaign. The 21-year-old has also qualified for the award this season thanks to his monthly win in November. Mahkovec reached the pre-playoffs with Olimpija Ljubljana, where he was eliminated by Pustertal. The forward recorded a total of 24 points in 50 appearances this season. In November, the then 20-year-old scored three goals, made two assists and had a plus/minus rating of +1 in eight games.

Tobias Sablattnig (EC-KAC) | Winner December
Tobias Sablattnig is currently playing his second full season in the EC-KAC's first team and is in strong form. In 50 games so far this season, the defenseman has collected 14 points. His plus/minus record is +10. The left-shooter scored a total of four goals - three of them in December, the month in which he was also named Young Star of the Month.

Leon Kolarik (EC Red Bull Salzburg) | Winner January
Only 17 years old, Leon Kolarik has been on the ice seven times for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In January, the Vienna native not only scored his first goal in the league, but also made two assists in a 5:0 home win against EC-KAC. As a result, he was named Young Star of the Month.

Patrick Söllinger (Steinbach Black Wings Linz) | Winner February
Patrick Söllinger of the Steinbach Black Wings Linz won the last monthly voting. The 20-year-old defenseman impressed in February with one goal, two assists and a plus/minus rating of +3 in five appearances. In his first full win2day ICE Hockey League season, the Upper Austrian has already been on the ice a total of 50 times and recorded nine points with a plus/minus record of +8.

Voting procedure
First, five monthly winners were determined. Four players per month were nominated to take part in the voting. Due to only a few match days in September 2024, the first two months were combined into one election. The five monthly winners will now compete for the title "Young Star of the 2024/25 season".

The election consists of two components: in addition to the fan voting on the league website, the TV experts from Austria, Italy and Slovenia also vote. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.
