Without a chance to qualify for the round of 16 in the Champions Hockey League, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV made the trip to Straubing for the last group game. The "Adler" had to do without several injured regulars at the Pulverturm and also gave many established players time off. As a result, the team was very rejuvenated. The young squad, with Alexander Schmidt covering the net, struggled to keep pace from the start and was already trailing after just three minutes. As the match wore on, the Germans took more and more command and in the end remained a commanding 8-0 winner.

For Villach it was the fifth defeat in the sixth group match. With fourth place, the "Adler" were eliminated from the top division.
