VSV signs Czech goalie

EC Grand Immo VSV signed the Czech goalie Jakub Sedlacek. The 30-year-old goalkeeper played four years in the KHL, as well as six games for HCB Südtirol Alperia (2017/18) and also stood between the posts twice for the Czech national team.

Jakub Sedlacek started his career in Zlin in the Czech Republic, where he already attracted attention in the youth teams and quickly advanced to a number one goalie in the Extraliga. The 2009/2010 season was his first as a first-team goalie, posting a 92.7 percent save percentage in the regular season and also becoming the goalie with the most wins (31) in the Czech league. He played in Zlin until 2013 and also made two appearances for the Czech national team, where he achieved a catch rate of 94.5 percent.

With these performances, he proved to be a good candidate for the KHL. In 2013, he moved to Dinamo Riga: In the Latvian capital, he played four years, completed a total of 129 games with a save percentage always between 91 and 93.8 percent. In 2017, after a brief interlude with HC Bolzano, he returned to the KHL, playing for Slovan Bratislava and then skating for HK Hradec Kralove in the Champions Hockey League and Sparta Prague in the Czech league. In the current season he played 23 matches in the Slovak league for HC Kosice.

The new VSV goalie will already arrive in Villach on Wednesday and could already be in goal for the Eagles for the first time on Friday in Bolzano.
