EC GRAND Immo VSV defeated HK Nitra 2-1 after overtime in front of their home crowd, taking revenge for their 4-5 overtime loss to the Slovaks a week ago. Villach got off a good start, created a number of chances - but could not overcome guest goalie Mathew O'Connor. In the 14th minute Rick Schofield broke the spell: After a solo effort by Marco Richter, Schofield, who played for Salzburg last year, sent back the rebound. In the middle period, the "Adler" had to accept the equalizer in a shorthanded situation. Villach fought to regain the lead. However, this only succeeded in the overtime through newcomer Joel Broda.

Znojmo loses in shootout
HC Orli Znojmo was defeated in the return leg against AZ Havířov with 3-4 and could not confirm the last dominant shutout victory against the Czechs. For the third time in the current preseason, the ICE returnee lost after overtime or shootout. Newcomers Filip Ahl (24.) and Radek Prokes (39.) twice tied it up. The lead by Radim Matus (51.) let Znojmo slip away, as the win in SO too.

Bratislava beats Slowak Champion
After two defeats in a row, the iClinic Bratislava Capitals celebrated a 5-4 away win at the Slovakian champion HKM Zvolen. After David Buc (8.) equalized in the first, the decision in favor of the ICE team was made in the middle period: Two goals of former NHL and KHL pro Nikolai Zherdev and a goal of David Levin gave the Capitals a two-goal lead before the final frame, which they finally defended. The fifth goal was scored by Tor Immo, another newcomer.

Bolzano wins last test ahead of CHL start
HCB Südtirol Alperia won its last game ahead of the Champions Hockey League starting on Friday in Poland at JKH GKS Jastrzębie. The "Foxes" won at HC Gherdeina valgardena.it with 2:0. The vice-champion of past campaign was able to call up his Italian national team players for the first time this preseason except for Luca Frigo. Missing were defender Keegan Lowe and goalie Kevin Boyle. Returnee Justin Fazio performed flawlessly and the goals for the South Tyrolean ICE team were scored by Joseph Mizzi and Nick Plastino.
