The hosts came out strong and spent extended stretches in the offensive zone early on. However, VSV remained dangerous on the counterattack and capitalized on a breakaway in the 15th minute when Brett Budgell finished off a solo effort to give the visitors the lead.

Villach doubled their advantage just 41 seconds into the middle frame as Philipp Lindner converted to make it 2–0. FTC-Telekom stayed in the game and cut the deficit through Gordon Green later in the second period.

The momentum carried into the final frame, where the hosts quickly tied the game. The equalizer, however, did not last long. Adam Helewka restored VSV’s lead shortly after, and despite late pressure from the home side, Alex Wall sealed the game with the 4–2 in the 51st minute.

With this win, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV take a major step toward the Pre-Playoffs. They remain eight points ahead of 11th-placed FTC-Telekom. The Hungarian road trip continues on Sunday at 16:00 when VSV face Hydro Fehérvár AV19.
