The win2day ICE Hockey League has assigned the exclusive national free-to-air TV broadcasting rights in Austria to ORF for three years starting from the 2025/26 season. Additionally, Sportdeutschland.TV will become the league’s new professional streaming partner from the upcoming season, taking over the comprehensive OTT offering for a global audience.

A total of 30 games per season will be broadcast live on free TV: eight games are guaranteed on ORF 1, with a further 22 games on ORF Sport+. In individual cases, broadcasts may also be shown via ORF ON. The league’s international TV rights are currently being finalized, with further information to follow shortly in a separate press release.

All 312 regular season games, as well as all playoff games of the win2day ICE Hockey League, will be available on Sportdeutschland.TV through a multi-year partnership. The sports streaming platform is accessible worldwide and already broadcasts the IIHF World Championships and the Champions Hockey League, including coverage in Austria. As part of Sportdeutschland.TV’s internationalization strategy, the online broadcaster will soon announce the name for its new global platform.

ORF Expands Ice Hockey Coverage
Since the league’s re-establishment, ORF has regularly shown highlights and, in the most recent season, also selected live games. Now, Austria’s public broadcaster is further intensifying its commitment to ice hockey. With selected games to be aired on ORF 1, the win2day ICE Hockey League gains an even more prominent stage for showcasing thrilling top-level sports.

ORF Head of Sports, Hannes Aigelsreiter, stated:
“Austrian ice hockey has reached new heights, especially following the national team’s quarter-final appearance at the World Championship. A key factor in this success is the strong performance of the win2day ICE Hockey League. As a long-standing partner of Austrian ice hockey, ORF is delighted to provide the sport with the best possible media platform for another three years, delivering even more spectacular live content for all fans.”

League President Dr. Alexander Gruber added:
“Expanding our collaboration with ORF to include ORF 1 represents an important step in further increasing the reach and popularity of our league. The exclusive free-TV broadcasts by ORF give us the opportunity to inspire even more people with our sport. At the same time, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the ProSiebenSat.1 PULS 4 Group for five successful years during which we achieved a great deal together and continuously developed our product.”

New Streaming Partner: Sportdeutschland.TV
From the 2025/26 season onwards, Sportdeutschland.TV will be responsible for the OTT services of the win2day ICE Hockey League as its new streaming partner. The league will benefit from Sportdeutschland.TV’s professional and well-established platforms, which have over ten years of experience in streaming live sports. The cooperation also includes structured measures to support the clubs in streaming and signal production, as well as the production of all game highlights and additional editorial content, particularly for social media.

A particular highlight of the partnership is the integration of an innovative AI tool that opens up new avenues for clubs in content creation and enables fans to enjoy personalized content experiences. As a result, highlights and key scenes from all games will be available shortly after the final buzzer across the league’s, clubs’, and Sportdeutschland.TV’s various channels. All content and rights will remain fully owned by the league. In addition, Sportdeutschland.TV will continue to drive the technical development of its platform to elevate the live experience for fans to the next level.

Björn Beinhauer, Managing Director of DOSB New Media GmbH, commented on the new partnership:
“We are extremely excited that all games of the win2day ICE Hockey League will be streamed live on Sportdeutschland.TV from next season.
