Release from 29.10.2025
The 15th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League brought victories for the league leaders. Top-ranked HC Falkensteiner Pustertal defeated Moser Medical Graz99ers 4-1 and thus maintained a two-point lead over the first chaser, Olimpija Ljubljana, who won 7-4 at FTC-Telekom. For a surprise, the Pioneers Vorarlberg claimed a 3-2 OT home victory against defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg. Additional away wins were recorded by the in-form EC KAC at HCB Südtirol Alperia (5-3), the Steinbach Black Wings Linz with 4-2 at HC TIWAG Innsbruck – their first away win of the season – and the Vienna Capitals with 6-3 at Hydro Fehérvár AV19.
HC Falkensteiner Pustertal proved unbeatable even against Moser Medical Graz99ers. With a 4-1 away victory, the league leaders avenged their 0-4 home defeat to the 99ers on September 14 and handed the Styrians their heaviest defeat of the season. With 32 points, Pustertal still holds a two-point lead over Ljubljana and seven points more than Graz. The Wolves’ next opponent is Bolzano on Friday in the second South Tyrol derby of the season. In Graz, HCP took the lead after just 23 seconds through Nick Saracino. Alexander Ierullo added a 2-0 goal in the 19th minute, before Saracino scored the decisive 3-0 just under nine minutes from the end. In goal for Pustertal, Jakob Rabanser delivered a strong performance, conceding only in the 55th minute to Chris Collins on the power play. JC Lipon sealed the 4-1 final score and the fifth consecutive win with an empty-net goal.
KAC confirms strong form with away win in Bolzano
EC KAC defeated HCB Südtirol Alperia 5-3, recording their seventh win in the last eight games. After 47 minutes, the Klagenfurt team was already comfortably ahead 5-1, but the hosts made it tense again with a late double strike. Matt Fraser put the visitors in front in the 8th minute, with Bolzano responding through Cole Schneider (11th/PP1). Afterwards, the guests controlled the game and extended their lead. In the standings, Bolzano remains third with 26 points, while KAC is sixth with just one point less. In the first season meeting on September 21 in Klagenfurt, South Tyrol had still won 5-1.
Pioneers surprise champion Salzburg
The biggest shock of the 15th round came from Pioneers Vorarlberg, who beat defending champion EC Red Bull Salzburg 3-2 in OT at home. For the league’s bottom team, it was their third win of the season and first after five consecutive defeats. Salzburg lost for the second time in a row and now sits in fifth place. Initially, everything went according to plan for Salzburg: within the first ten minutes, Troy Bourke scored a double, giving the Red Bulls a 2-0 lead. Three minutes later, Oskar Maier reduced the deficit for the Pioneers. The game remained balanced, with no further goals until Nathan Burke equalized on the power play in the 58th minute. In overtime, Collin Adams secured the surprise after just 63 seconds.
Ljubljana firesaAnother goal barrage
Olimpija Ljubljana’s offense continues to be unstoppable. At FTC-Telekom, the second-placed team won 7-4 and remains only two points behind leaders Pustertal. With 73 goals scored, Olimpija has 22 more than the league’s second-best offense, Pustertal. Man of the match for Ljubljana was league top scorer Nicolai Meyer with a hat trick and an assist. For Budapest, Brady Shaw also shone with a hat trick and an assist. Until the 37th minute, the guests led only 3-2, but by the end of the second period, they extended their lead to 5-2, securing an early decision. This marked Olimpija’s fourth consecutive win, while Budapest suffered their fourth straight defeat.
Linz come back from 0-2 to win 4-2
Steinbach Black Wings Linz ended their away curse with their first road win in seven games. At HC TIWAG Innsbruck, they were down 0-2 after two periods but scored four goals in the final frame to turn the match around. Travis Barron scored the first goal in the 44th minute, followed by Graham Knott (47th), Julian Pusnik (56th), and Ken Ograjensek (60th/EN) to secure the 4-2 victory. It was already the third consecutive win for the Black Wings, who now climb to tenth place. For eleventh placed Innsbruck, it was one of four defeats in the last five games.
Capitals win in Fehérvár
The Vienna Capitals won 6-3 at Hydro Fehérvár AV19, recording their second consecutive win, while Fehérvár suffered their fourth straight defeat. Linden Vey was the player of the match with a hat trick, scoring the goals for 4-2, 5-3, and 6-3. The hosts from Hungary never led in the match. After the second period, Vienna led 2-1, before extending the lead to 3-1 early in the final period with a shorthanded goal from Leon Wallner. Fehérvár got back to 2-3 and later 3-4, but the Capitals ultimately secured the important away victory.
