The Top 4 – Leader HC Pustertal Wolves, EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau, VEU Feldkirch and Red Bull Hockey Juniors – earned wins in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday. Bruneck has celebrated their 17. straight victory and has equalized the winning-record of Champion Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935.

Sat, 24.11.2018: EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau vs. EC-KAC II 4:3 (2:0,0:3,2:0)

EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau has been the chief on the ice in period 1 (12:6-shots). Martin Grabher-Meier netted the 1:0 in the first Power Play of the game in minute 5 and potted the 2:0 in minute 15 as well. But, the Lions took a penalty late in the first period and were punished by the guests quickly after the re-start. Philipp Cirtek netted the 1:2 in the Power Play after just 67 seconds. The goal seemed to be a real game-changer: The Red Jackets got an extra boost and scored again just 124 seconds later , Markus Pirmann added the 2:2. The team of Head Coach Kirk Furey had the upper hand of the game in the following minutes (13:6-shots in period 2) and was even rewarded with their third goal from Philipp Cirtek in minute 35 – 3:2. But the match was not over yet. In the last 20 minutes, the Lions Special Units did a pefect job and managed to get the win for the favorite. First Marc-Olivier Vallerand netted the 3:3 with a shorthander in minute 48 and then Vallerand potted the Game Winner in a Power Play in minute 59 as well. Klagenfurt has been defeated in 16 straight games now.

EK Die Zeller Eisbären started over-motivated into the derby against Red Bull Hockey Juniors. The Polar Bears took two early penalties. But, the home-team defended well shorthanded and so, the score remained 0:0. In minute 10, the Pinzgauer got their first Power Play, in which Fabian Scholz gave his team a 1:0 lead. Each team searched their luck in the offense in period 1, but the goalies Dominik Frank and Nicolas Wieser allowed no (other) goals. After the restart, the guests took the game in their hands (12:5-shots) and they were finally rewarded with the 1:1 from Evertsson in minute 39. Tobias Schmitz gave the guests the lead in minute 51. But, the Polar Bears did not give up and managed to score the 2:2 in minute 60. The derby was finally decided in the Shoot Out by Evertsson. So, the Mozart Citizens took two points from Zell am See and the Polar Bears have been defeated for the first time under the lead of Head Coach Greg Holst.

EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice searched their luck in the offense (42:48-shots on net). In the beginning of the game, the Tyroleans were more effective and earned a 3:0-lead from goals from Havlik (13.), Hochfilzer (19.) and Ebner (25./pp). Goalie Ty Rimmer stopped the Red Steelers from scoring till minute 30. Then, Nik Pem netted the first goal for the „Red Steelers“ in a Power Play. The game continued offensively in period 3 as well. The Steel Citizens have finally been rewarded for their effort with two (other) goals from Luka Basic (47.) and Tadej Cimzar (48.) within 69 seconds. The game went into Overtime, in which EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel had the better end thanks a goal from Captain Peter Lenes ten seconds before the end.

EC Bregenzerwald had a perfect start into the Vorarlberg-derby against the VEU Feldkirch on Saturday. Christian Ban gave his team an early lead – 1:0. Each team searched their luck in the offense then (41:38 shots on net). But, the VEU needed a Power Play to start scoring in minute 35: Daniel Fekete netted the 1:1 (35./pp) and Niklas Gehringer added the 2:1 moments later. While, the „Wälder“ couldn‘t beat VEU goalie Alex Caffi (40 saves) anymore, the guests added three (more) goals from Robin Soudek in another Power Play  (50./pp), Smail Samardzic (52.) and Kevin Puschnik (58.) in the last ten minutes, earning a clear 5:1-derby-win in Dornbirn.

For the second time since the start of the season, Pustertal could field all its foreign players thanks to the return of Teemu Virtala. Brunner, Piroso, Oberrauch and Berger were absent for the Wolves. The brothers Andreas, Simon and Gabriel Vinatzer, Nocker and Bergmeister were absent for Gherdeina. Leo Kostner was the starting goalkeeper. In the first minutes the game didn’t offer much. Then after a bit of nervousness at half-time, Bruneck sinked its claws. Raphael Andergassen opened the scoring for the hosts: alone in front of Kostner, the forward of the italian national team realized 1:0. After 15 minutes from the start of the first period, Armin Hofer scored the doubling with a missile from the blue line. In the final minutes of the time Raphael Andergassen scored 3: 0, the result with which the first half ended. In the second half, Pustertal controlled the game. Furlong made a couple of important saved. Then the game was one-way. After a rebound Marko Virtala scoresìd 4: 0 right in the middle of the game. Armin Hofer, as in the first half, scored 5: 0 for his personal double win. In the third time in evidence the 18 years old Gregor Grossgasteiger author of a fantastic hat-trick that fixed the final result for 8:0 in favor of Bruneck who won the seventeenth consecutive match (like Asiago in the last season). In the final Bruneck wronged a penalty. Colin Furlong earned the 4th shutout, the second in the season against Gherdeina.

Soel Costantin and Martin Graf were absent for Fassa. Jure Sotlar, Paul Eisindle and David Gschnitzer were absent for the Broncos. Minute after minute the visitors took the control of the game as they created many opportunities. After 14 minutes, the efforts of Sterzing were rewarded by Matthias Mantinger's goal with a shot from close range below the intersection of the poles. At the beginning of the second half the Broncos doubled again with Mantinger. Then the game was one-way. In less than three minutes the Broncos made the advantage more consistent with Paolo Bustreo and Tobias Kofler. Before the end of the second period, the guests also find Kyle Just's goal for 5: 0. In the third time there was the first Fassa goal created by Elias Thum. The last goal of the match was of Luca Felicetti, former player of home team, who fixed the final score of the match on 6: 1 for the Broncos. The Wipptal earned the 4th success in a row.

Phil Pietroniro was absent for home team. The game was very pleasant with an open-faced game on both sides of the rink. With the passing of the minutes and after an initial control of the Asiago, it was Milan that created some dangerous situations with Borghi and Selan. Then from a half time more Asiago but Milan opened the score with Guillame Doucet on rebound. The first half ended with the slightest advantage of the visitors despite a great opportunity for Doucet and two powerplay of the yellowread team. In the second half Brace hit the crossbar. The game was still full of emotions and with many penalties. Great work was made by two goalkeepers (Cloutier and Valle Da Rin). But the only goal of the second period is a favour of Asiago during a powerplay: Anthony Bardaro served a perfect assist for Marco Rosa who equalized after 36 minutes. Asiago took the lead in the third half and found the advantage with Alex Gellert thanks to a rocket from the distance. Then any team hit the pole in a game always exciting and very tense like as expected. At the end Luca Casetti realized the goal with an empty net that gave a suffered victory to Asiago for 3:1.

Radovan Gabri, Kai Lehtinen and Kevin Fink were absent for home team. The young Manuel Oehler was in the roster. For the hosts the game didn’t start in the best way. After 3.36 minutes, Devin Di Diomete scored the first goal for the visitors. Then the Ritten began to dictate the rhythm and at 11.18 minutes they found a draw with Alex Frei. At 18 seconds from the first whistle the Italian champions overturned the match with the usual Frei, who signed his personal double. In the central period the captain of the "Buam", Dan Tudin, found in numerical superiority the 3th goal, shortly after the Cortina shortened the distances with Marco Sanna in shorthanded. The game remained very balanced and, just a few seconds after the end of the period, the Ritten dropped the poker. The Swedish Henrik Eriksson scored 4:2. In the last period the home team was spreading. Ivan Tauferer opened the score in third period. After Simon Kostner and Thomas Spinell overcame Luca Burzacca, who replaced the starting goalie De Filippo Roia after the 5th goals of Buam that won 7:2. For the Ritten it was the seventh consecutive victory.
