EC-KAC welcomes KHL Medvescak Zagreb for the 2nd time within two days on Tuesday. The Austrians have extended the contract with US-defenseman Adam Comrie. Besides: EC Red Bull Salzburg will be in action in the Champions Hockey League: The Mozart Citizens will play the first leg of the semifinals in München on Tuesday. Plus: EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz have decided to split ways with Head Coach Troy Ward. Mark Szücs takes over for the moment.

Tue, 08.01.2019: EC-KAC vs. KHL Medvescak Zagreb (19:15)

• EC-KAC (3.) and bottom-club KHL Medvescak Zagreb will face each other for the second time within just two days in Klagenfurt on Tuesday. The Austrians have beaten the Bears at home on Sunday (12:0), Andrew Kozek has netted six goals.
• Thomas Koch of EC-KAC will make his 826th Erste Bank Eishockey Liga game and will equalize the League-record (since 2003/04-season) of Manuel Latusa. Koch has scored 767 points (259G/508A) out of 825 matches for EC-KAC and EC Red Bull Salzburg so far. Koch is already leading the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga on points and goals.
• KHL Medvescak Zagreb will try to end their bad run in Klagenfurt on Tuesday: The "Bears" have lost 16 consecutive matches and equalized the longest loosing-streak of HDD Olimpija Ljubljana out of the 2016/17-season. Another defeat for the Bears, woud mean a new negative record in the Erste Bank Eishockey League.
• EC-KAC has extended the contract with US-defenseman Adam Comrie until end of 2019/20-season.
• EC-KAC has been successful in six consecutive meetings (including Pre Seson 2018/19) with KHL Medvescak Zagreb. The "Red Jackets" even earned Shut Out victories in the last two clashes (7:0 in Zagreb on December 30th 2018 and 12:0 in Klagenfurt on January 6th 2019).

Champions Hockey League, semifinals first leg:
Tue, 08.01.2019: EHC Red Bull München vs. EC Red Bull Salzburg (19:30, ORF Sport + live)
EC Red Bull Salzburg will be in action in the Champions Hockey League on Tuesday. The Mozart Citizens will play the first leg of the semifinals in München (GER). It will be the first meeting of the two Red Bull clubs from München and Salzburg and the their first CHL-semifinal-game too. EHC Red Bull München has dominated the DEL during the last few years: So, the club from Bayern has won three straight DEL-titles and is ranked 2nd 2018/19. The Germans are in good form right now, earned points out of seven consecutive games (five wins). On Sunday, EHC beat Straubing with 3:1. München has already beaten EV Zug und Malmö Redhawks in the CHL-Playoffs. The EHC Youngsters Emil Quaas and Justin Schütz and Head Coach Don Jackson are best known in the Mozart City. But, watch out: EC Red Bull Salzburg has won their last game prior the CHL-semifinals as well. The Austrians got a win in Bozen on Sunday. The other semis are played between Frölunda Indians (SWE) and HC Plzen (CZE). „München is a strong team, but we can beat them and that’s our aim“, reported Salzburg forward John Hughes.
