Release from 31.10.2025
A full round of Alps Hockey League action is scheduled for Saturday. The defending champion EK Die Zeller Eisbären will face the second-placed KHL Sisak in the top game of the day, while league leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors host HC Gherdeina valgardena.it.
The reigning champion from Zell am See currently sits fifth in the standings, trailing second-placed Sisak by seven points, though with two games in hand. On Thursday, the Pinzgau side suffered a 4–5 shootout loss at home against Merano, while Sisak celebrated a 6–4 home victory over league leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors. For the Croatians, it was one of four wins in their last five games, whereas Zell managed to win three of their last five. In their first meeting of the season in Sisak, the visitors from Zell am See came out on top 4–3, after rallying back from a 0–3 deficit.
Red Bull Hockey Juniors look to start a new winning streak
For Red Bull Hockey Juniors, an impressive six-game winning streak came to an end on Thursday with a 4–6 road loss in Sisak, cutting their lead at the top of the standings to just one point over the Croatians. Their next opponent, HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, last played on Saturday, earning a 4–3 overtime win over Merano — their first victory after three straight losses. The South Tyrolean team currently sits sixth in the standings. In the first matchup of the season against the Juniors, Gherdeina’s “Furie” earned a 3–1 home win, which was also the last defeat for Salzburg before beginning their impressive streak.
Kitzbühel hosts the bottom team
Fourteen points separate the third-placed Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel from bottom side Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. On Saturday, the two teams will meet for the first time this season. Last season, Unterland had the upper hand in two of three encounters, but the South Tyroleans are currently struggling, with only two wins from twelve games. Kitzbühel, on the other hand, has won seven of twelve games, including a 3–0 road win in Ritten on Thursday. At home, the Tyroleans are unbeaten and dominant, boasting five wins from five games and a perfect 15 points. Unterland, meanwhile, has collected both of its victories on the road.
Second game in 24 hours for Bregenzerwald
EC Bregenzerwald will visit the Rittner Buam SkyAlps on Saturday, just 24 hours after playing in Cortina. Ahead of Friday’s matchup, Bregenzerwald sits 10th with 15 points and has won its last two games. Ritten, on the other hand, has gone three games without a win — most recently falling 0–3 at home to Kitzbühel, after two shootout losses (4–5 each) in a doubleheader in Sisak. This will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams. Last season, Ritten won two of three encounters.
Asiago hosts Sterzing in a standings neighbours’ clash
A standings neighbours’ duel will take place between HC Migross Asiago and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Asiago currently ranks seventh with 17 points, followed by Sterzing in eighth with 15 points. On Thursday, the Broncos fell 3–4 in a shootout at home to Jesenice, marking their third straight defeat. Asiago, meanwhile, celebrated a 4–1 road win at Unterland on Wednesday, their third victory in the last five games. Saturday’s matchup will be their first meeting of the season.
Cortina vs. Jesenice: Struggling teams face off
In the sixth game of the day, S.G. Cortina Hafro and HDD Jesenice will go head-to-head. Both teams are struggling for form, currently sitting 12th (SGC) and 9th (JES). Last Saturday, Cortina ended a four-game losing streak with a 3–2 home win over Sterzing. Jesenice also earned a 4–3 shootout victory against Sterzing on Thursday — their first win after two straight losses. In their first season matchup, the Slovenians won 3–0 at home. Last season, the two sides met in the quarterfinals, which Jesenice won 4–1 in the series.
