Zell am See remain perfect in the Master Round

Five mostly very tight games took place in the Alps Hockey League on Tuesday. In the Master Round, EK Die Zeller Eisbären claimed a 3–1 away victory in the top matchup against KHL Sisak, celebrating their third win in as many games. HC Migross Asiago also prevailed, defeating the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan 2–1 after overtime. In Qualification Round A, HC Meran/o Pircher recorded an important 4:0 away win at S.G. Cortina Hafro. In Qualification Round B, the Rittner Buam SkyAlps celebrated a 3–2 victory at HDD Jesenice, while EC Bregenzerwald suffered a 0–2 home defeat against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, their third loss in three games.

EK Die Zeller Eisbären prevailed 3–1 in the top game at KHL Sisak and now lead the standings with twelve points, already seven points ahead of third-placed Sisak. For the Croatians, it was their first defeat in the Master Round and their second loss in the fourth meeting of the season with Zell am See. In front of nearly 1,600 fans, Sisak took the lead in the 22nd minute. After that, however, only the visitors found the net. Blaz Tomazevic equalized in the 32nd minute, and just 72 seconds later Paul Schmid turned the game around in favor of the Austrian team. The narrow 2–1 scoreline held until the 52nd minute, when Tomazevic struck again to seal the win with his second goal of the night.

Asiago turns the game around in overtime
In the second Master Round game, HC Migross Asiago earned a 2–1 overtime victory at the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Vipiteno had led 1–0 until just 99 seconds before the end of regulation, when Ryan Valentini equalized for Asiago. In overtime, Nicholas Porco scored the game-winning goal after three and a half minutes. With three points, Asiago remain in fourth place, while the Broncos collected their first point and stay in fifth position.

Ritten celebrates narrow road win
The Rittner Buam SkyAlps claimed an important 3–2 away victory at HDD Jesenice and now lead Qualification Round B with eight points. Jesenice remain third with three points. The hosts made the better start and took the lead in the 12th minute through a power-play goal by Gregor Koblar. After Ritten equalized, the Slovenians went ahead again in the 26th minute. However, only seconds later the visitors struck back once more, before Diego Cuglietta scored the decisive 3–2 goal in the 35th minute. It was Ritten’s second win in the fourth meeting of the season, giving the South Tyroleans a five-point advantage over fourth-placed Bregenzerwald.

Third straight loss for Bregenzerwald
The fight for the Pre-Playoffs is becoming increasingly difficult for the Vorarlberg side. EC Bregenzerwald, who entered Qualification Round B as the top seed, lost 0–2 at home to HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, suffering their third defeat in as many games. With three points, Bregenzerwald sit in fourth and last place, level on points with Jesenice. Gherdeina, meanwhile, recorded their second win in their second game and are second with seven points, just one point behind leaders Ritten. The visitors built a 2–0 lead already in the first period through goals from Sebastiano Soracreppa (9th minute) and Matteo Luisetti (18th). The score remained unchanged until the final buzzer, with Gherdeina goaltender Claes Endre celebrating his first shutout in just his fifth appearance.

Meran claim important victory
In the only Qualification Round A game of the day, HC Meran/o Pircher secured a surprisingly clear 4:0 away win at S.G. Cortina Hafro. As a result, Meran move up to third place with five points, now one point ahead of bottom side Unterland and three points behind leaders Cortina. For Cortina, it was their first defeat in the third game of the intermediate round and their first loss overall after five consecutive wins. Patrick Tomasini gave Meran the lead in the third minute. Two more goals in the second period allowed the South Tyroleans to set the course for victory early. Samuel Claesson sealed the final score in the 46th minute. The center had already made it 2–0 earlier in the game, completing his brace.
