Zell am See wins derby | Jesenice still unstoppable

Seven games were played in the Alps Hockey League on Tuesday. In the derby between the EK Die Zeller Eisbären and the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel the "Polar Bears" won 3:2. Still unstoppable is league leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, who already celebrated the eleventh victory in a row. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors, who won 5:3 in the top match at S.G. Cortina Hafro, continue to follow in second place. There were no goals until overtime in Lustenau. In the end, the EHC lost with 0:1 in overtime to the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan.

Zell am See wins derby against Kitzbühel narrowly
More than 2300 spectators did not want to miss the derby between the EK Die Zeller Eisbären and the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. And the fans saw a high class game from the beginning. In the 3:2 victory of Zell am See, the guests first took the lead after 145 seconds. Just 30 seconds later, the home side responded and even took the lead another eight minutes later. And the remaining two goals of the game were also scored in the first period. In the remaining 40 minutes, the two goalkeepers Max Zimmermann (EKZ) and Paul Mocher (KEC) were always on the spot. Zell am See is now in third place in the standings after the 3:2 win over Kitzbühel. The "Eagles", who were defeated for the first time since October 6th and the equivalent of seven games after regular playing time, are sixth in the table.

Young Bulls win top match in Cortina
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors prevailed in the top match at the S.G. Cortina Hafro with 5:3 and thus are still in the second place in the table. Cortina, which conceded its third loss in a row, slipped to the fifth place. After 36 minutes, the Young Bulls were already 4:1 in front, before the hosts from Italy came close to 3:4 at the beginning of the final period. However, they did not manage to equalize, instead Quirin Bader made everything clear for RBJ twelve and a half minutes before the end of the game.

There were seven goals less to see in Lustenau. In the narrow 1:0 overtime victory of the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, the goalkeepers of both teams were in focus. While Broncos goalkeeper Jakob Rabanser saved all 47 shots on goal and thus celebrated his second shutout of the season, Erik Hanses in the goal of EHC Lustenau only had to conceded one goal in overtime. In the 64th minute it was Jaako Jokinen who scored the decision. For Vipiteno it was the first win after two defeats in a row. Lustenau lost for the first time after two wins en suite and is twelfth in the table.

Fassa is still waiting for the first point against Ritten
Also in the 21st AHL duel between the Rittner Buam SkyAlps and the SHC Fassa Falcons the "Buam" prevailed. In the 3:5 defeat on Tuesday, the eleventh in the table was in front 1:0 and 3:2. Ritten only turned up the heat in the final period, with goals to make it 3:3, 4:3 and 5:3. The Buam improved to eighth place in the standings. Player of the game was Jakob Cardwell, who was involved in four of Ritten's five goals (1G / 3A).

League newcomer Hockey Unterland Cavaliers had no problems against the EC-KAC Future Team. In the first AHL duel of both teams Unterland won clearly with 6:1. After 28 minutes, the home team already led with 5:0. While the South Tyroleans celebrated their third win in a row, the team from Klagenfurt lost for the fourth time in the last five games.

Jesenice still unstoppable
Already the eleventh victory in a row was celebrated by league leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. At the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, however, the Slovenians had a hard time for a long time. Val Gardena took the lead already in the fourth minute of the game. The narrow 1:0 lead lasted until the 34th minute before Jesenice equalized and then turned the game around just four and a half minutes later. In the final period, they finally added three more goals to win 5:2 in the end. For the Furie, who are in ninth place in the standings, it was their fifth loss in their past six games.

For the first time in the AHL, the HC Meran/o Pircher was victorious against the Steinbach Steel Wings Linz. The South Tyroleans prevailed with 3:1 and inflicted the ninth defeat in a row on the Steel Wings. For the "Eagles", on the other hand, it was the third win from the past five games. They moved up to twelfth place in the standings. The Steel Wings are at the bottom of the table.
