It was a game at eye level right from the beginning. Both sides generated but no goals were scored in the first. The second period was a mere 27 seconds old when former NHL player Yan Stastny made the breakthrough. Soon later Tommi Laine finished a nice combination for the equalizer. With three minutes to go in the middle frame EHC captain Max Wilfan restored the lead. In the third Zell am See wasted some good chances but in the 57th minutes Patrick Gaffal tied it at two. And it became even better for the visitors: With 48 second to go Franz Wilfan, who also won the meeting with brother Max, scored the game winner.
