EK Die Zeller Eisbären and SIJ Acroni Jesenice are joining the Rittner Buam in the Alps Hockey League playoffs. Zell clinched their quarterfinal ticket with a win over HC Meran/o, making them the closest challengers to league leader Ritten, who also celebrated a victory today. Jesenice, who had a day off, benefited from KHL Sisak’s loss and can no longer be knocked out of the Master Round, allowing them to start planning for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan reignited their fight for a spot in the Master Round with a win and Cortina’s concurrent loss. Additionally, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and Adler Kitzbühel both picked up important victories.

Zell secures playoff ticket with shutout
EK Die Zeller Eisbären celebrated a commanding 4-0 shutout win over HC Meran/o on Thursday evening, securing their quarterfinal spot. With this victory, the Salzburg team also leapfrogged idle Jesenice in the standings, becoming the closest pursuers of league leader Ritten. After a scoreless opening period, the "Eisbären" broke the deadlock in the second period. A quick double strike within 20 seconds in the final frame sealed the game in favor of the visitors from Zell.

Broncos reignite their fight for the Master Round
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan recorded a 6-4 win over EC Bregenzerwald on Thursday. With S.G. Cortina’s simultaneous loss, the Broncos are back in the hunt for a Master Round spot, trailing by just five points. The visitors from Vorarlberg had the better start, taking a 1-0 lead. However, between the 18th and 54th minutes, Sterzing responded with five unanswered goals. Although Bregenzerwald mounted a late comeback, scoring twice within four minutes to make it 4-5, they couldn’t force overtime.

Ritten extends their lead at the top
The Rittner Buam SkyAlps remain the team to beat, extending their winning streak to five games and strengthening their grip on first place. In their matchup against S.G. Cortina Hafro, the visitors from Ritten capitalized on their chances early, taking the lead in the first period. Cortina managed a temporary equalizer in the second period, but Ritten quickly regained the upper hand. The "Buam" eventually secured a 5-2 victory, opening a three-point gap over their nearest rival. Cortina, on the other hand, missed a critical opportunity to consolidate their fifth-place position – the last spot in the Master Round.

Crucial win for Kitzbühel in Master Round battle
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel earned a crucial 7-5 road win over HC Gherdeina on Thursday night, further solidifying their place in the Master Round. The Tyrolean team returned to winning ways after two straight losses. Kitzbühel initially struggled against the league’s bottom team, trailing 0-2 after just 11 minutes. However, three goals between the 15th and 22nd minutes turned the tide in favor of the visitors – at least temporarily. Gherdeina regained the lead in the second period but couldn’t withstand the relentless pressure from the Adler. Two goals from Anthony De Luca in the final frame ultimately secured the victory for Kitzbühel.

Juniors continue their climb
After defeating EK Die Zeller Eisbären two days ago, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors added another win against KHL Sisak, securing SIJ Jesenice’s playoff berth in the process. Following a scoreless opening period in Croatia, the Salzburg squad opened the scoring early in the second period. Sisak managed to equalize briefly, but the Red Bulls quickly reclaimed the lead. Despite a strong push from the hosts in the final period, they couldn’t find another goal. Two late strikes sealed a 4-1 victory for the Austrians – the emptynetter was scored by RBJ-Goalie Valentin Ankirchner.
