With a new acquisition Teemu Lassila on the bench, HC Orli Znojmo stood against EC-KAC for their 1st season-win. The Fin has earned the title with HC Banska Bystrica  in Slovakia past season and with Tappara in Finland 2017. Besides, he was World Champion with Finland 2011. The first period has been equal for a long time, though Znojmo had a bit more chances. The home team got their opportunity 5-on-3 in the very end of period 1. And the Czechs used it perfectly: First Cameron Braes delivered the puck right in front of Haugen. The second goal was scored by Petr Mrazek, who stood alone by the left post, where he got a puck and potted it in. Period 2 had pretty hell of speed from both teams. But it was Znojmo, who had more chances to score. But neither Lattner with his hard blue-liner nor Bartos hitting the post could celebrate a goal. It was KAC who have scored, Clemens Unterweger succeeded with a quick wrist shot under Halasz’s glove. KAC entered period 3 with an evident goal – to equal the score. Six minutes before the end of the third period Wahl had a great opportunity to score, but right in front of the goalie he only shot into his pads and so Znojmo took its first win of the season, beating EC-KAC 2:1.

The Vienna Capitals have been defeated by ZSC Lions in the Champions Hockey League (4:7). Zürich already had a 4:1-lead after 40 minutes, but the Caps didn't give up and came back with two goals from Schneider (42.) and Rotter (47.) - 4:3. Then, the Austrians took some penaltys and this was punished by the Lions. The Swiss team scored two Power Play goals and earned a 6:3-lead. Finally, ZSC Lions won 7:4.
