Release from 24.09.2021
There were surprising results in the seven games of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League on Friday. The HC Orli Znojmo was the only team to celebrate a home win. This was a surprise, however. Equally surprising were the home defeats of the EC Red Bull Salzburg against the Dornbirn Bulldogs (5:6) and the HCB Südtirol Alperia against the HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana (2:6). Dominik Grafenthin had a brilliant evening in the jersey of the Moser Medical Graz99ers. The German scored four goals. In the end, however, the Styrians lost against the iClinic Bratislava Capitals with 5:6-OT. The spusu Vienna Capitals still have to wait for their first point this season. Despite a two-goal lead, the Viennese werde defeated league leader Hydro Fehérvár AV19 with 3:4. In addition, the HC Pustertal and HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie were also were successful away from home.
Znojmo outclasses the KAC
Historic things happened in Znojmo on Friday evening. The HC Orli Znojmo prevailed against the reigning champions, EC-KAC, with 6:0. It was the highest victory of the Czechs over the Klagenfurt team in the history. The home team set the tone from the beginning. Already in the fifth minute of the game Tomas Svoboda scored the 1:0 in powerplay. The 34-years-old Czech also scored for the interim 3:0. In the end Znojmo won all periods with 2:0. Klagenfurt had little to oppose this evening and also had to give up the league lead. With six points, the Carinthians are now in fifth place in the table. For the Czech "Eagles" it was the second win in the third match. In the standings, this means the third place.
Four goals of Grafenthin not enough for 99ers
German Dominik Grafenthin scored four out of five goals for the Moser Medical Graz99ers against the iClinic Bratislava Capitals. In the end, the Styrians still lost with 5:6-OT. The 26-years-old scored twice in both the first and second period. Adis Alagic provided the fifth goal for the 99ers. On the Capitals' side, Marc-Olivier Roy scored twice. The Canadian also scored the game-winner in overtime. While Bratislava won all of its last three games and is in second place in the standings with eight points, Graz is still waiting for its first win of the season. With two points, the 99ers are currently only twelfth in the table.
Vienna loses again
The spusu Vienna Capitals could not win their third game of the season. For a long time it looked very good at the first home game. Nicolai Meyer from Denmark gave the Capitals an early lead against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 (2./PP). Still in the first period the Canadian Brody Sutter (14th) increased to 2:0. For the 29-years-old it was already the third goal of the season. In the middle period, the guests scored the first goal, through Gleason Fournier (29./PP). Only four minutes later, the Viennese restored the two-goal lead. Nicolai Meyer scored again in the powerplay (13./PP). In the final period, however, the home side had no more chances and the Hungarians were able to turn the game around completely. Istvan Terbocs (45./PP) and Alex Petan (49./PP) scored two powerplay goals to equalize the game. The game-winner was finally scored by Anze Kuralt from Slovenia in the 58th minute. While Vienna is only at the bottom of the table with zero points, Fehérvár keeps the maximum of nine points and is the leader the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League.
Dornbirn and Pustertal surprise
Surprising away wins were celebrated by both the Dornbirn Bulldogs and the HC Pustertal. While the Bulldogs won with 6:5 at the EC Red Bull Salzburg, the "Wolves" kept the upper hand at the EC GRAND Immo VSV with 3:2. Dornbirn led with 2:1 after the first period, with Russian Pavlo Padakin responsible for both goals (4., 14.). In the second period, the Vorarlberg team even increased to 5:2. In the final period, the Bulldogs even increased the lead to 6:2, before the Red Bulls once again tried everything and even managed to reduce the score to 5:6. With five points, Dornbirn is in eighth place in the table. Salzburg is only tenth in the table with three points.
The HC Pustertal had an early deficit in Villach. Maximilian Rebernig (3.) put the home side in the lead. Through goals from Simon Berger (5.) and Johan Harju (18.), the South Tyroleans turned the game around before the end of the first period. The 35-years-old Swede has scored in every game for the "Wolves" so far. Ex-Bolzano forward Anthony Bardaro increased the lead to 3:1 in the 28th minute of the game. 25-years-old Bardaro scored his first goal of the season and his sixth point of the season. In the final period Joel Broda was able to reduce the score to 2:3 in the 51st minute, but the Carinthians were not able to equalize. This was mainly due to PUS goalkeeper Tomas Sholl, who was able to save 48 shots on his goal throughout the entire game.
Innsbruck wins after overtime
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz still have to wait for their first win of the season. The Upper Austrians lost in the Puls24 live match against the HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie with 1:2 OT. The hosts had the game under control for long a long time. After a goalless first period, Julian Pusnik scored in the 31st minute to give BWL the lead. The narrow lead lasted until the 53rd minute of play before Joel Messner equalized for Innsbruck. Shortly before the end, the Tyroleans even had the chance for a full victory, but failed. In the overtime the HCI did it better. In the powerplay, Canadian Zachary Magwood scored the game-winner for the visitors. It was the second win of the season for the ninth-placed team from Tyrol. The Black Wings are in thirteenth place in the table with just one point.
Ljubljana surprises Bolzano
Last year's finalist HCB Südtirol Alperia lost against the HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana surprisingly clear with 2:6 at home. For the league newcomer from Slovenia it was already the third win en suite. For Bozen it was the first defeat in the third game of the season. Already in the third minute of the game the "Dragons" took the lead through a goal by Aleksandar Magovac. In the 25th minute of the match Nik Simsic increased the lead to 2:0. The Slovenian also scored the goal to make it 4:1 in the meantime. Besides Simsic, Ales Music also scored twice. The 39-years-old scored the goals to make it 3:1 and 6:2. On the side of the hosts Daniel Catenacci (30.) and Mike Halmo (46.) could score.
